I want a great game, period. I'll watch tonight but the outcome is pre-arranged. If we lose tonight, our season is over.

I guess we need to vacate our last Elite 8 if losing to cupcakes means your season is over.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

I respectfully disagree with you on the question of won loss records. If we're 11-0 against cupcakes and lose to Villanova, UConn, Wisconsin etc., we aint going anywhere. I think we've even missed the tournament in a few years because we had no notable wins.

I didn't say 11-0. You still need quality non-con games to build the revenue and insure some fan excitement. If you go 9-11 in league, 4-3 in competitive non-con games, then 4-0 in cupcakes, that likely gets you into the NIT and possibly on the bubble. But if you're 2-2 in those 4 games, your season is likely over. That's why those need to be wins.

No, it means this season is going to be a gory, long and awful one if we lose tonight.

I can't agree with you, dgies.  This young team WILL improve over the course of the season, and who writes off an entire season after one game?  Hell, I hope you didn't stop watching the Packers this year after the Saints embarrassed them on opening day.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Agreed, should never take too much from a single basketball game.  This one shouldn't be too much of a test, but if it proves otherwise, I can understand some folks worrying.

This fascination with Edwardsville led me to see what all the fuss is about since I have never visited. I was wondering if this is where Yadi lives or something of the sort.

Just getting around to this thread:

St. Louis has a popular local roast beef restaurant chain since 1967 called Lion’s Choice. 25 locations. They have one in Edwardsville. I would go there first. It’s pretty good. Interestingly enough, the Cardinals baseball owner owns more than 60 Arby’s locations.

SIUE alums:

The day job of former long time college basketball referee Ed Hightower, was Superintendent of Schools in Edwardsville.

Ken Flach and Bob Seguso won 4 Grand Slam Tennis Doubles titles together, an Olympics Doubles Gold Medal, and 30 Tourneys together. They were World number 1, added a few Mixed Doubles Grand Slams individually. And they had a Davis Cup USA record of 10-2.

SIUE also had several players from their 1979 Soccer National Championship team on the 1980 U.S. Olympic Soccer team.
