Will be interesting to see if Villanova is number 1 when the new rankings come out Monday.

Xavier obviously lost to a very good Bayor team on the road and will be interesting to see how that hurts them.

Also Providence Beat number 21 Rhode Island so they may be in the additional vote category.

I think if we can beat Fresno State and Badgers we will get in the rankings.

Might get votes, but beating two unranked teams and beating one ranked team at home likely won't be enough.

Clearly losing Watson impacted Creighton perception in both polls.However,  if they can hang around at this level it would be great for all concerned.

Villanova obviously has to take us seriously and not look forward to their battle with Virginia on Sunday.

OT but amazing to see the Wildcats ranked in the AP poll.  And I am not talking about Villanova,  Arizona, Kentucky, nor Kansas State.

Not that surprising, like Jay Bee and Markus Howard, I've been saying it all year. Northwestern is legit.

They have a tough stretch four games coming up, have Purdue and Wisconsin on the road and Maryland and Illinois at home. Should be a good measuring stick for the rest of the season.

I am a believer but it is still surreal to see it. Wonder if they are the last team of the Power Conferences to finally have a national ranking?

Northwestern was previously ranked in the top 25 for one week in December of 2009.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Butler beat Northwestern, so Wildcats ranking , rip etc helpful to Big East.

This is just the 13th week NU has ever been ranked. (MU has been ranked 360 weeks and Kentucky 871 for comparison.)

* They were ranked #25 for a week in December 2009
* They reached a peak of #12 in the 1968/1969 season
* They reached a peak of #6 in 1958/1959
* They reached a peak of #16 in 1954/1955

These are the only seasons they have ever been ranked.

They have never made the NCAA tourney

The John Shurna wonder years. Talk about someone who regressed over a college career.

Spotcheck Billy

The BIG#? being a bit down this year looks like a perfect storm for this Northwestern team to take advantage.

He didn't.  His best year was his senior year.

I didn't watch them that closely, but how is this regression?

08-09: 18.5   7.3   3.0   1.0   0.5   0.6   1.2   .466   .745   .347
09-10: 36.4   18.2   6.4   2.6   0.8   0.9   2.0   .459   .775   .355
10-11: 34.0   16.6   4.9   2.6   1.1   1.0   1.8   .481   .707   .434
11-12: 37.3   20.0   5.4   2.8   1.2   1.7   1.6   .463   .753   .440

His raw numbers took a bit of a hit between his sophomore and junior years but his efficiency increased.

Weird, sure felt like he got worse. Maybe it just felt like it because the team was worse after his sophomore year.
