Milwaukee entertainment
« on: September 20, 2016, 06:36:33 PM »
So I'm eight years removed from campus and every night I've spent in Milwaukee is usually just getting poopfaced at bars.

Planning dinner at Ardent with the wife in early November, anyone got any post dinner entertainment to recommend?

Don't say ComedySportz.

No sports. I spend enough time in the BC.

She's well aware of Arts, MU grad as well.

Wolf Peach has some pretty good desserts and a bar downstairs to sit at.  Doesn't get overly loud or crowded.  3 minute drive from where you'll be.

My last semester on campus I usually went to OGBH for drinks or Brady street. Usually not as populated with Marquette students. There's a really nice bar on Brady called, Balzac. It was a little high end and out of my price range for me at the time, but it was a really, really nice place.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • Bingo at Potawatomi Casino can be a fun couples activity. I believe they still have a smoke free bingo area. You can also double your fun at the table games too.

  • Ping Pong @ Evolution
On Old World 3rd Street, a great place to play some pong in a up scale setting.
    http://www.evolutionmke.com/pong/

  • Holler House
On the South Side on Lincoln Avenue, it is a tavern that houses the oldest certified bowling alley in the United States. Both lanes are still tended by human pinsetters, so if you go, have some cash to tip them.

  • Splash Studio - A Painting Bar
Channel your inner Jackson Pollock, the more wine you drink, the better it looks! ;)
    184 N Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202
    https://www.splashmilwaukee.com/

  • 42 Lounge - Video Game Themed Bar
If you are into video games, this is the place. Video and Sci-Fi themed drinks and they have a number of couches with PS3, Xboxes, etc you can rent out. Or bring your own laptop and plug into the TVs over the bar and have everyone watch as you POWN novices in WOW and Call of Duty.
    http://42lounge.com/

  • Movies @ the Marquette Varsity Theater (Friday and Saturdays)
Still have your MU ID? It is free for you and your guests!! Don't forget your flask ;)

If you're already going to Ardent, you might as well go to Blu @ the Pfister for a nightcap. Drink are a little pricey, but the atmosphere is worth it.

If you're looking more for a show, Comedy Cafe is a better, more adult alternative to Comedy Sportz. Haven't been to the new location yet, but I hear its nice.

I think they're usually on Fridays, and they are only once a month, but the Milwaukee Art Museum After Dark events are a good time if you happen to be in town for one of them.

This doesn't apply for your November visit, but for anybody looking for an incredible rock'n'roll experience this week ...

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers are playing Shank Hall on Thursday.

http://rogerclyneandthepeacemakers.com/tour-dates/

Roger, one of the greats from the AZ music scene, is an outstanding singer, songwriter and entertainer, and his concerts are wonderful. His music is kind of a cross between
Tom Petty and the Gin Blossoms. The crowd really gets into these shows. There aren't many better ways to spend $20, especially if one wants to avoid getting V.D.

Come on and let you're feminine side hang out a little-do the domes and go for the let's play 2 and hit the boerner botanicals on your way to kops for a double frisbee burger and a malt.  If that doesn't work the pheromones into a honeymoon fever, I give up hey

With Google Translator, it would be easier to understand 4ever if he typed in Farsi, Urdu or Cebuano.

Nevertheless, we should ask ourselves this: does our inability to understand 4ever at times enhance or diminish the Scoop experience?
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

4ever translation - There is a new hotel in the Third Ward called The Journeyman (owned by national chain Kimpton). It has been pretty packed since opening in July because it has a 9th Floor garden/terrace bar which is absolutely "un-Milwaukee." It is very modern and attracts its fair share of pretty people and hipsters.

Nice thing about Ardent is that it is great food, but won't fill you up. So hit that Ping Pong bar after, get drinks at the Journeyman -- then go back to Ardent's sister restaurant next door, Red Light Ramen and finish up at Wolski's.
