Kalif Young to visit Marquette this week

Following a visit from Duquesne graduate transfer L.G. Gill this past weekend, a source told the Journal Sentinel that Marquette will host Kalif Young on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nice.

We welcome you to sign on the dotted line while you're in town, Mr. Young.

Agree. The few videos I've seen haven't impressed me at all. Unless dunking on six-foot white guys is cause for celebration.

I think he's a good player with a pretty high ceiling. And he fills a need.

I'd probably prefer Gill, but I'd be happy if we get Young. I'm done caring about recruiting rankings (excluding the top 40-50 guys). Erik Williams, Jamail Jones, and Davante Gardner have shown that recruiting rankings aren't always accurate. Especially for a late blooming prep school player in Canada.

Death on call

I'm going to trust that Wojo knows more about Kalif's ability to compete at this level than I do.

If he thinks Kalif is worth Pol-axing Wally, and all the ensuing hullaballoo, then that's cool with me.

Well, it would make him a future expert on scoop.   Seriously though, a third big will be welcome.  A year from now, knowing we can rotate Heldt and Young will be a positive.

Videos seem to show some decent ball handling and passing for a big - good size and weight - not overly athletic - better hops than a heldt or Gardner - some low post offensive potential - more energy on offense than defense but a decent shot blocker - long arms - agree good high major ceiling for a guy his size - lets do it !!!!!!

Pol-axing? That just sounds stupid.  ?-(

Something on Scoop sounds stupid? Oh, the humanity!

I rather like it!

Agreed. Seems comfortable putting the ball on the floor after rebounds or from the top of the key. Can cross over to avoid defenders. Dribbles with his head up and looks for open guys all over the court.

His combination of size and athleticism might be an ideal fit for this team and Wojo's playing style. If he commits to Marquette, I could see him getting significant playing time (10+ mpg) in his first season.
