He sees playing time staring him right in the face.  He will be MU's Kris Jenkins, might be a Power Forward mismatch, can play a little like Henry as he can dribble the
ball up the court.  Not sure who will be better shooting the ball if he starts,  Rowsey or Him?  Carter can get in the lane and now he has two people who can shoot
it,  maybe they will out score teams next year.

He will not be Kris Jenkins. He is not a PF.

But, I believe he will become a very good wing player

Between Wally,  Sam and another young Frosh like Kalif we'd be okay.

So I'm trying to recall.  When Fisch was nailed to the bench with foul trouble, did Wally play the 4 after Matty got hurt?  Seems like for awhile he was ahead of Sandy in the rotation.  Or did we go more 4 guards?

Sandy was the primary 4 when HE would go to the 5. Obviously, HE would stay at the 4 with Luke or Matt in. Wally got some run and a tiny amount for Sacar when Sandy was playing really really bad.

I'm interested to see what kind of improvement Sacar can make in the offseason.  Short for a post, but he has the build and athleticism of someone who can play bigger than he is.  I think he could be a pleasant surprise next year.

15-20 mpg is complete guesswork. I expect Wally will get more playing time than the 9 mpg he averaged this season — and less than the 22 mpg that Steve Taylor averaged a couple seasons ago.

Say 12-16 mpg instead. More than spot minutes, less than the starters. Depends on far too many variables (how much Wally improves in the offseason, how much Sacar/Sandy improve, how good Sam is as a freshman, who else we add to the roster) to be all that meaningful at this point.

We need someone who looks like this:

I would rather have a Jae, a JFB, a Lazar.   A talented two way warrior.

I see Sacar as an impoverished man's Josh Hart. Athletic wing who is a great defender and plays much bigger than he is. If can he develop into a poor man's Josh Hart, that would be great news for us.

Hauser will eventually be a fine player. I expect very little from him in year one. Wally, Sandy and Sacar should be able to contribute some solid minutes at the 4 .  We really need to pick up a  6-8 240 brute type to help on the inside , a graduate transfer or juco.

Matt  will back up Luke at the 5 . Between the two of them there will be 10 fouls.

We have several players whose ceiling appears to be becoming a poor man's version of some Villanova player.

I remember that too PB but I'm thinking that was January.  By February WE was off the pine ahead of Sandy. Anyway, I don't think anyone really considers Sandy a good #4 option. Thanks for helping me recall.

Sandy could be a great option at the four. He's big enough, can guard defenders bigger than he is, and can stretch the floor with his shooting (sometimes...). He needs to add strength and work A LOT on his rebounding.

Yup. If Sacar wants far more PTnext year he's gotta the chance to go out and get it. It's there for the taking.
Lazar picking up where the BIG 3 left off....

I think at the end of the day, there are enough pieces "on the roster" now that we could be ok overall and at the 4. However, there is a lot of potential in not being good at the 4 or rebounding which is why we would hopefully recruit a known quantity for the 4 (juco/grad transfer) if not then we definitely want to land K. Young.

Between development of Wally/Sandy/Sacar and freshmen talent of Hauser/Young we should be able to find combinations that work for rebounding/defense/offense at the 4 among our other great pieces.

Wally's minutes in each conference game:
11, 8, 3 8, 7, 20, 12, 7, 14, 2, 2, 0, 2, 0, 0, 11, 19, 4, 8, 0, 15

Sandy's minutes in each conference game:
25,  36, 26, 33, 36, 25, 7, 19, 17, 18, 11, 29, 28, 21, 5, 0, 10, 2, 30, 21, 14

Sandy was clearly always the preference except for a game or two....but mostly Wojo shortened up the bench, and let HE and Luke play through foul trouble late in the season (which might also explain the defensive collapse in the last 5 games).

Sacar was named the #WarriorAward winner by Todd Smith (@MUStrength) for the 2nd week in a row, and there have been only 2 weeks of it. Good to see him getting after it in the weight room. Catch up everyone else!

And just wait until the weeks since our last game turn into months.

Stretchdeltsig

We need our team to grow, just like the Badgers a couple years ago, when they all grew taller and added muscle.  We need to bulk up and play stronger.  Sandy seems to fade as the seasons go on.  Wish he could 20 lbs and an equal amount of stamina and confidence.

Doesn't really matter what any of us think or hope. I don't believe we currently have even a passable '4' on this team.

Nope, can't agree.

Sandy has zero chance against the Bentils,  Farrs, Reynolds, Jenkins', Yakwes, Jones', Hegners, etc. in the BE

Everybody needs to get into the weight room.    Get Sandy to 220.   Get Sacar to 225.    Wally... stay slim for the high jump.    Get Sam to to 225-230.   Get Haanif to 215.  JJ, 220.   If our medium sized guys add a whole bunch of muscle while retaining their skills and quickness, MU may be just big enough.    We know that 6'4-6'7 guys can compete on the boards in the Big East.   Right, Jae/JFB/Lazar/Jamil (ish)?   But they have to be strong and they have to be ferocious.  The players we have need to become warriors.
