The statement was about the play that was drawn up.  It was very similar to the play I described.  5.6 seconds vs 4.7.  Length of the court dribble, reverse out to the trailer, hit the three.

Great play design, great shot.  Awesome game.

Oklahoma and Miami (top of the Big 12 and ACC were humiliated by Villanova, as was Iowa. Kansas and N Carolina were on a par talent wise but were out-toughed and maybe out coached.

depending on where you got the line for the over/under, if you had 150, the three won it for you also.  if he hits a 2 it pushes.  if OT, ov was the winner regardless.  was watching that stat alnight-thos friggin book dudes are very often right on the stones-uncanny.  i got my underwear handed to me in vegas in rounds 1 and 2-the dogs were covering.  lost $800 on 3 game by a combined 3.5 points.  first patient mondasy morning got a root casnal whether they needed it or not-just an unlucky guy too-ein"a

For Villanova, this was one of the greatest tournament runs of the 64/65/68-Team Era in two regards:

1. Villanova (2-Seed) defeated the top seed it could have faced in each round except for the semifinal against Oklahoma (a 2-seed instead of 1-seed Oregon).

UNC Asheville (15), Iowa (7), Miami-FL (3), Kansas (1), Oklahoma (2), UNC (1)

No previous champion has faced the "seeded minimum" & only one other champion faced the "seeded minimum" plus 1: 1993 UNC.

2. Villanova defeated 5 AP-Top-25 Opponents in this tournament.

UNC Asheville (UR), Iowa (25), Miami-FL (10-tie), Kansas (1), Oklahoma (7), UNC (3)

The only other champions to defeat 5 AP-Top-25 Opponents: 1995-UCLA, 1996-Kentucky & 2009-UNC.

To the astute Big East fan, one may notice the otherwise seemingly odd connection between Villanova and Providence here... of course, Providence being where the Big East was originally launched, and Villanova, whose championship ignited the second stage booster as the USS Gavitt heads towards the stars.

To the Big Ten fans in my office (i.e. Big East haters), however... the mashup simply represents the most sour-tasting donuts they'll ever eat.
