NYC Buckets and Dratings updated their NCAA and NIT brackets overnight.

Fork meet MU. See ya at Madness.

Irony of ironies, all predictions have Beauregard and VaTec in the NIT. Have to give Brent his due. He seems to be turning around a program with no real history, at a football school. Of course, he is living in West Succotash, Virginia, with its lack of distractions, unless you drive up to Roanoke for a 3.2 beer.

So, this is the worst Marquette OOC SOS rank in the fifteen years of Pomeroy (#344 worst nationally). For the previous 14 years, MU's average rank was #236.

MU's overall SOS (OOC + Conference) was #83 this season, contrasted to to a #42 average over the previous fourteen years, or about 100% worse.

These double-frosted cupcakes, coupled with home losses to Belmont (in), Creighton (in), and DePaul killed our RPI as a result, and killed our chances with the NIT.  I too hope for miracles, but the modern day NIT follows similar criteria today as the March Madness selection committee.  In the past, commercial viability also was a big NIT weight. No more which is why we are on the sidelines looking to get in.

Wojo plays a four out and one in offense (Buzz ran a three out and two in offense). The one in is primarily Luke. Luke is #61 in the nation in offensive rebounding rate, but MU, as a team under Wojo both years, are the worst MU offensive rebounding teams in recorded KPom history, however--one year with HE and one without.  This is by design so MU gets back to set up on defense (like Wisconsin under Bo).

I want to make sure I understand what you are saying....the worst MU offensive rebounding team in KPom recorded history?  How far back does that go?

Kenpom started in 2002.

I haven't looked up the rebounding stats though

Worst MU offensive rebounding rate team. KPom goes back fifteen seasons, and it isn't even really close.

You realize that someone could transfer and not burn any eligibility because they can graduate this year,

Of course I do.

Do you realize that Duane, JJJ and Luke are all juniors school wise and are extremely unlikely to be in a position to graduate after 3 years of college.

What a dumb comment.

I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Or they put in extra hours and will be eligible to graduate.

I might put an asterisks in there..

When we had a 6'6" center named Lazar, the team's OR% as a percentage of the average D-I team's OR% was actually worse than this year. (OR% is doooooowwwwwnnnn this year.)

Further, MU got to the line a relatively healthy amount this year -- this hurts a team's OR%. In the 2009-10 season, MU didn't get to the line as often.

So... lowest OR% this year? Sure. Worst OR team this year? Would argue otherwise...

So who of JJ or Luke have taken a full course load for their three years in college plus a full slate of summer classes to be able to graduate after 3 years?

They'd have to take a full course load of 15-18 credits each semester plus at least 9 credits each summer to even be remotely close. I bet most D1 athletes in major sports take 12 credits a semester. I think it is incredibly unlikely that Luke or JJJ or Duane are in that position.

Wally could potentially be ready to graduate this year - he's been in school for four years.  And he can actually jump for rebounds.  But I'm not sure he's a crucial piece of the team as you're talking about it.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)

Interesting thought on one of the juniors being ready to graduate in three years. Losing one of those three would be tough to overcome.

Well....San Diego State with a #41 RPI missed the NCAA tourney

Unless someone has been preparing for this for a couple years, it seems extremely unlikely to lose any of the juniors, besides maybe Wally who IMO wouldn't be much of a loss. Go grab a grad transfer or freshman project with that schollie if he decides to go. Still seems unlikely.

Graduate transfer exception is for those who have not had a 4-year to 4-year transfer in the past. Still, (Wally) could apply for a waiver, but not under the grad transfer EXCEPTION.

Probably doesn't happen often. That said, I'd be very careful making definitive statements in this regard.
