Had the honor of seeing our daughter graduate today . . (and the pleasure of knowing that we are done paying!!!!!)

I noticed that Jamil Lott received his Bachelors degree, too.

Also, Tony Smith rec'd business management degree.

Good to see.

Agreed - he was a great player in a bad era for MU basketball which coincided with the time I was there.  I had to check the Wiki for how he stacked up overall.  It would be hard to argue against him.

I remember going to class with Tony Smith...but wasn't he an engeneering major?

He was, but he couldn't get an engineering degree because the requirements have changed a lot since he'd left.  So he had to go somewhere where most of his credits would still count for something.

As an individual, I'll stack up his senior season against any individual year in the past 25 years. I don't know the particulars of George Thompson's numbers, but TS was ridiculous as a senior.

In fact, I believe Novak's UCONN explosion recently knocked TS out of the MU record books.

He also had like a 9 year NBA career -- played in the NBA Finals for the Lakers (with Magic Johnson) against the Bulls and Jordan. Seriously, he's been lost in the shuffle of coaches...he's a real all-timer for the Warriors!

I was a freshman during TS senior season and he was as good that year as any I've followed since.  He had a good NBA career and for a time it looked like he might break out, but a knee injury shortened his career.  I'm glad to hear he received his degree.

I forgot to mention that I had hoped that Wes Matthews could have developed into a Tony Smith type player.  Wes just doesn't have the ball handling skills that Tony had.  I really wish Wes would try to develop a patented pull-up jumper like Smith had.
