I would give up on the idea of Zaire ever playing in a Marquette jersey.  I'm pretty sure he is ineligible given the free housing he accepted from Marquette for several months after his birth.  I'm sure many will blame Crean for this recruiting violation.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Any chance Dwyane tries to stick it out long enough to play in the NBA with his kid?  Based on my math (I think Zaire is 7th grade), the earliest he could make the NBA is the 21-22 season, and even that is assuming he graduates high school in 3 years and is one-and-done.  That's 6 more years after this one.  Dwyane would be in his 18th season at age 40.  Possible?

GoldenWarrior11

Very little chance of that happening.  Dwayne is banged up pretty bad for his age as is - 6 more years of NBA basketball with the style he plays?  Don't see it.

Saw people talking about DWades newphew class of 2020 kid making some noise. Let's lock up the family

Didn't Buzz land a commitment from Phil Flory (Wis Rapids then, Oshkosh North currently) as an 7th or 8th grader?

Wonder when Zaire will start getting offers
Flory was between his 8th grade and freshman year when he committed in 2013. His star has definitely dimmed as he's been out with an injury all this year and wasn't as good as expected as a sophomore. He will need a big senior year in 2016-17 if he wants a D1 scholarship.

That said, if Zaire is as good in games as he is on mixtapes, he'll likely start getting offers in the next two years.

Thank you! I missed this earlier. What was the connection with Flory? Would have thought Buzz would have offered him at VT once he left

Flory's father played for MU. I believe this was a case where Buzz projected the young man to keep improving as a player. When Wojo got here and saw the kid was not Big East material I am sure there was a very gentle discussion with the parents and the kid. Unfortunately, getting hurt this year didn't help his cause. . He has time to find another home . Has a good jump shot and decent guard size which I am sure a coach somewhere will find appealing. Hopefully it will work out for him.

Ahh, that makes sense. Appreciate it. He plays for Ike & PGE, leaving the door slightly open for MU? Or is that door shut

I am sure if the kid is someone Wojo wants the door would be open. I have thought for a long time the best thing for this kid would be to PG a year at a basketball factory that plays strong competition.

In the last 6-12 months Flory has visited:

ISU
Memphis
Xavier
Vanderbilt
Wisconsin
Northwestern

And 247 has him as top 150 overall. But no offers? Something doesn't add up. I've never seen him play so I have no clue

He's been injured so school may be holding off to see how he bounces back.

Wade's nephew is Dahveon Morris. No idea how good he is at basketball. Can't seem to find anything. Then again, I think he's only 14.

D Wade was awarded custody of his nephew. It is like the two of them are being trained to be clones of him.

Size and Shooting ability plus on a well respected AAU team means that schools will extend him the courtesy of an unofficial visit. My instinct is that the dream is to play at a high major and they are going after that .  It will all come out in the wash when he is healthy .  Hopefully the kid tears up the AAU circuit this summer. I feel for the young man, being injured at this juncture is a tough thing to go through.

Here are some highlights. remember they are highlights and don't show the full picture.

good example....names that went thru my mind were like Clay Matthews...but his dad only played in the NFL, not a great.
I know DNA puts a lot of guys in the Big leagues like their dads....but can't think of a lot of Great and Greater examples.

Not a Great????.  You're talking about a four time Pro Bowler who has the third most tackles in NFL history.

NM Sultan got there first.  He and Clay III are the only father-son tandem to both be named defensive player of the week in the NFL.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

St. Johns is looking at a 2020 Montez McNeil

So that gives us the go ahead to offer our favorite 2020 Zaire...
