Quiet Christmas morning and I just finished watching (again) the ESPN 30 for 30 "Fab Five."  If you have not seen it, it is outstanding.  You can find it on Youtube, I highly recommend it.

------------------

This got my thinking ... If this Milwaukee only line-up were all playing on the same team (of course MU!), how good would this team be?  Again all these guys would be technically eligible to play college BB this year and all are from Milwaukee.

G - Duane Wilson (MU)
F - Cinmeon Bowers (Auburn)
F - Kevon Looney (UCLA now NBA)
F - Jameel McKay (MU now ISU)
C - Diamond Stone (Maryland)

Bench

G - Denote Burton (MU now ISU)
C -  Phil Nolan (Uconn)
G -  Carrington Love (Green Bay)
F -   Jameer Hurdle (Green Bay)
F -  Elgin Cook (Oregon)
PF - Jaylen Key (NIU)
G -  Jarvis Garrett (Rhode Island)
G - Shy McCelelland (South Dakota)
PG - Johnnie Lacy (Providence, now Texas - Permian Basin)

My thought is this would be a top 10 team, maybe even around 5.

Thoughts?

Front court's not bad, but ya need some playas who can fill it up from da outside. Maybe ring up Bo and let's see if he can help out, hey?

Would their ball handling skills be good enough?

Yeah, you would definitely need a shooter in the starting lineup like Matt Thomas for ISU (or at least he should play big minutes to provide the spacing).

Johnnie Lacy, formerly of Providence (now Texas - Permian Basin) is still eligible.

Would that change things?

The name honestly doesn't ring a bell, who is he?

From Milwaukee, was a MU target many years ago.  Left Milwaukee, went to ND Prep in Fitchberg MA.  Freshman year at Providence (2009 - 2010).  Had a falling out with Ed Cooley, left Providence.

Last four years did not play college ball.

Re-emerged as a Junior PG for Texas-Permian Basin. (25 now, will be 26 in Feb)

Bottom line, high D1 recruit with high D1 PG talent, MAJOR LEAGUE head case.

What happened to Damontrae Jefferson? He was a teammate of Looney's at Hamilton. Went to a prep school, looks like he committed to Texas Southern, but isn't listed on their roster and hasn't played that I can see. Would fit the PG role, though he'd probably struggle defending bigger guards, and pretty much anyone Dominic James size and taller would count as a "bigger guard" for Jefferson ;D

I know this is all just to get your clicks up and everything, so logic goes out the window and you'll change your tune 15 different times in this thread, but why in the world would watching "The Fab 5" get you thinking about an all Milwaukee team?  The Fab 5 were made up of 2 players from Detroit, 1 player from Chicago, and 2 players from different parts of Texas (Plano and Austin).

Let me guess, you just happened to "forget" that it was actually Michigan State's "Flintstones" (of which has nothing to do with the Fab Five and doesn't have a 30 for 30 feature on) that might at least cause one to consider an all Milwaukee team, since they at least had 4 recruits all from Flint, MI (although 1 of them left the program before they won their National Title).

I thought he was at Cleveland State.  However, he is not listed on the roster.

Jefferson was always fun to watch, but don't know how well he would fit into any system. Many "attitude" kind of problems to say the least.

Isn't Riley LeChance from Milwaukee?

Brookfield.  Guess it'd depend on whether the criteria included just the city or the whole metro area.

I used just the city

No you didn't.

Key went to Homestead.  Stone lives in Tosa and went to Dominican.

Cinmeon Bowers of Auburn is another Milwaukee product.

wadesworld

Again, I don't understand what the Fab Five has anything to do with an "All (whatever city you so choose)" college basketball roster.

We get it.  He simply is adding his own twist to it for the sake of discussion.

He grew up in Milwaukee and went to Rufus King High School.

Ok, I added him above.  I even made him a starter (Burton is now on the bench)

So how good is this team?  What would you think is its rank?

GGGG

Very weak backcourt.  Would struggle shooting and ball handling.

I thought he was at Cleveland State.  However, he is not listed on the roster.

You may be thinking of Charlie Lee, another 5'8" Milwaukee product that played for Cleveland State, but he graduated last year.

GGGG

If you aren't going to put LaChance on the roster, Stone should be there either.
