Is This The Greatest Moment In MU/Wisconsin BBall History?
« on: December 12, 2015, 08:35:02 AM »
Anytime you can drive Bucky fans to this level of frenzy/hate, you have done something right, very very right.

February, 1974. Milwaukee Arena. Marquette coach Al McGuire leaps on top of the scorer's table and celebrates after Maurice Lucas hit a ridiculous last second jump shot to give the Warriors a one point victory over Wisconsin. In the stands almost directly opposite McGuire is Glenn Hughes, father of Kim and Kerry Hughes, Wisconsin's "Twin Towers of Power". Walking in the foreground is dejected Badger Coach, John Powless. Marquette went on to the NCAA tournament and finished second overall.

Notice Mr. Hughes "salute" to Mr. McGuire.  Hank's reaction is priceless too.

Lots of great moments in the series, but that one can't be topped.

A second is Dominic James spike/block.    Love seeing a 5'9 guy block a shot.

That play, along with Vander raining threes at the Kohl and Davante's coast to coast are what I remember most fondly from this series

That play was epic!

After watching that, can we please go back to those uniforms? I don't like the Frankenstein monster of mixed old uni's we have now.

Agreed.  I love them.  I don't like the cut of the jersey, but that's what all Nike uniforms have gone to.  Love the design and color scheme.  Unique.

Since it is Bucky hate week ... it's time to dust off this picture.

This will NEVER EVER get old and tiresome.

I had forgotten that it was the same season we went to our first Final Four, in Greensboro.
