It was great to see and listen to Doc Rivers talk about his love for Marquette and how good Marquette treats their Alumni.  Marquette is a very special place indeed.

Disagree. Yeah he was 5 of 13, but he also had 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Thought he did a good job of making the extra pass for a lot of the game. He did take one or two shots that I thought weren't the best look we could have gotten on the possession but overall I thought he played well. He's played unselfishly the last two games.

He hit some monster threes when things were getting hairy last night.

really?   shot 5-13, constantly looking for his shot first.

5-13, when including 4-9 from three, is pretty good for a scoring guard. I'll take the 1-4 from two if it means 4-9 from three. And Duane had some really good dump off passes to Luke and Henry when he could have easily taken it up for a contested layup. I think its hard to say that Duane was looking for his shot first.

My favorite play was on one of those dump offs to Henry, he rotated into position behind the 3-pt line.  Henry then made a move then dumped it back to him for a converted 3.  Earlier in the year he would have shot first and it was frustrating.  You can tell they are being coached well on those poor decisions - and are changing their behavior.  Good to see.

It was pretty obvious to me that he had a significant impact on the game in a positive way.  Especially since Carter was struggling.  Duane does a lot of things well on the basketball court without really standing out at anything.  I will take his performance yesterday anytime.

I agree with Sultan here.  In the second half, DU, Henry and Luke all put on their big boy pants exactly when it was necessary. Personally, I thought both Haanif and Traci struggled when things stopped going our way and pressed just a bit.  Not unexpected from Frosh.  They'll grow from the experience.

Especially the rebounding. His positioning and timing and outlets have been much better this year in general.
We're going to need guard rebounding, particularly once we start BE play. Lots of experienced backcourts with 3pt shooters.

JJ continues to perplex me.   So inconsistent.   So prone to bad turnovers.   I realize that his game is not a good match against a zone.  Every time I think he has turned the corner, he plays a game like this.   Perhaps this is what he is and will be going forward.
I don't think JJJ had a bad game per se. He didn't force any bad shots or make any truly bad passes. He also made some nice defensive plays. There was nothing really there for him with the zone and until he can consistently hit the longer shots Wojo has him on a short leash.

I think in games where there are opportunities for driving and transition he will do well.  We are going to need him against the more athletic teams because of his length and quickness.

My guess is he will do well against the Badgers.

On Carter, he did have a rough game. Its hard to argue otherwise with 2-8 shooting and 4 turnovers. But I have to say how much I enjoy watching this kind of PG. When Derrick had the ball he would either pass around the perimeter or drive all the way to the hoop. There was no inbetween. Junior was the same way except he could hit a pull up jumper. I love watching Traci dribble in the half court offense. He has the ability to drive at the hoop, pull back, dribble around defenders in the middle of the lane and then either attack again, dribble back to the perimeter, pass to the post, or kick out to a shooter. The ability to control the ball in the middle of the lane and make quick decisions like that is not something we have seen from the point since Dom James. Kid is gonna be real good.

I agree with all these points. He is worth going through the growing pains with.

And he's up to 30% on three point shots. If he can keep that number at or above 30% he is going to be really effective. Struggles to finish in the lane right now but if he can make that shot he should be able to get by defenders at will, resulting in an open mid range or kick out to a shooter.

Going to be REALLY fun offensively next year with Hauser and Rowsey.

No, he played less selfishly but maybe Wojo can break him of that shoot first impulse.  He clearly wants the recognition that being the man, especially in crunch time, would give him.  And it is a good thing to not be afraid to take the big shot, so let's hope his development continues because I think he is/could be a very valuable asset properly used.
