Some can try to downplay expectations and talk about how freshman don't produce unless they're at Kentucky (news flash, Kentucky was all over him), but anything less than 13 and 5.5 from King Henry is a big time disappointment to me.

Two considerations. First, he was playing against semi-pro talent in Europe. I am very high on Henry but before I sign-up for Bucks tickets to see him, I want to see Henry against top-tier college talent.

Secondly, what will be, will be. If he is indeed that good, we have the makings of a good run this season. I can hardly wait for winter!

It becoming apparent to me that this year's team will be better than the 2016-17 version that is often talked about as the final four threat.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

I think HE is going to be fantastic but we will only get one year of him.  Yeah it was against bad Euros, but he showed a tremendous amount of skill.  With his inside/out game, I think he's a better pro prospect than Diamond.

Yeah, if we are going to have him for only one year (which means he truly is an excellent player), it's too bad it isn't 2016-17.  I think that would be the team that has the best chance to do something special.

I think I'll just try to enjoy watching him play and not worry about whether he's staying until April.

I want him to be awesome but one year would really stink in my opinion - it's interesting - the type of game he plays has me wondering whether truly is ready after one year - he doesn't have the size of say a one year Jabari Parker - and he isn't some freak guard that clearly can operate at a pro level - while it might seem clear to NBA teams that he will be a great player in time, and thus have the requisite 'ceiling' for a top ten pick - I really think at least two years would be best for him - if he's gonna be an inside out stretch four, he's going to need to be a good perimeter defender - it takes time to build the savvy for most big guys to play out there- someone like Korver in the NBA could be a blueprint - he spent some early seasons relegated to spot shooting while he worked on being a better athlete out there - here's hoping Henry does that here and has an unfinished business attitude going into next year - but - that signing bonus can change everything for a family -

Defense is the one thing that can hurt his stock enough to keep him here for a second year. He's as skilled offensively as any player I've seen at MU. But, who does he guard at the next level? Not quite strong enough to guard a pro 4, and not quick enough to guard the wing.

That said, I fully expect Henry to be shaking Adam Silver's hand in NYC next summer.

I was thinking yesterday while at the gym looking out at the BC... I think Henry stays 4 years wanting to be the first MU player to lead them onto the new arena court ever!
Then again I was drunk from a Monday lunch event and was also contemplating whether I would eat one piece of poop once a week for the rest of my life for 100K a year. So that was my mind frame.

I think that'd depend on your diet. I mean are you eating mexican and indian a lot? Maybe do a couple vegan days or something you could do it. Better hope you don't get the stomach flu any week though.

Just wondering about this part...  Parker is currently listed at 6-8 240 on the Bucks roster, and Henry is listed at 6-10 245 as an incoming freshman.  Henry may or may not be here for a 2nd year, but I think he has the size of Parker.

I do not think you would live very long, so the 100K a year would not have much value.

Barkley as in Charles Barkley?  Because I don't think Parker is anything like Charles Barkley.

Yeah, I never saw Parker as a banger or real physical player.  He certainly wasn't out-of-shape, but I don't think anyone considered him an impressive physical specimen.  I see Parker's game as more similar to Big Dawg than Barkley, more offensive skill and finesse than using his body.

Yeah Robinson is a good comparison.  I think I need to see him play a full year to get a better impression.  Players are used so differently now so sometimes its hard to make great comparisons.

Yep. Think long game here. Wojo sends Hank 1 & done to the league, and it'll help him land other high end players in the future.

I would never want a player of Henry's caliber to leave early if it can be helped. But I definitely want him to be as successful as possible in the NBA.

We are a different class of program than USC and Wojo is a different level recruiter than anyone they've had as HC.

OK, let's assume Henry is everything we hope he will be and he's one and done.

We better be ready to do a Final Four run next year! Otherwise, it's a huge disappointment given that much talent in one player.

How do we get there? Henry, Luke and Duane should carry us. The supporting cast -- Sandy and the Engine -- looks much improved and we have depth.

That said, let's wait until the season starts before we buy tickets to Houston.

I think Henry will have an excellent career with us. My base case is that he will steadily progress peaking as a Senior when he will be Big East Player of the Year. I recognize I am in the minority on this. I believe when he faces legit competition like Iowa, LSU, NC State, Wisconsin and our conference opponents there will be a learning curve that many are not factoring in.

I understand the logic of leaving early while you still have upside, so that  the player is peaking when the second contract comes around. If that is the case more power to him.

Side note, someone said don't buy your Houston tickets yet. I agree, and yes we beat some Europeans... But I think we will get an early gauge this year. What if we come out of the gate and beat LSU, NC, and Wisconsin... Lose to Iowa... (Blame it on young team..) I'll be looking at flights.

Yes, i'm quoting a site i've never heard of as fact.  But even if their research isn't 100% accurate it would still be a turn around of historic proportion:
http://www.realclearsports.com/lists/turnarounds_ncaa_basketball/missouri_2009.html?state=stop

There is only one team that has ever won less than 15 games one year and made it past the sweet16 the next year and that was the 98-99 Buckeye's that made it to the final 4 -- that run had to be vacated due to sanctions.

Missouri was 16-16 in 07 then went to the great 8 the next year but i see 16-16 more than a skip from 13-19.

What this list tells me is that making the NCAA off of a 13 win season is a major accomplishment - we need to keep that as the "happy" goal.

Anyone hear the guy from Bleacher Report on 1250 WSSP talk about Henry today? I'll post a link to the audio when it comes available.

Yeah, he expects Hank to finish top 2 in BE POY voting along with Dunn, 90% 1 and done (compared to 70% for Stone), and thinks Marquette will be a "force" and it starts with Hank.

The guy wasn't ranked top 5 in the country by accident.

That show is horrible. Wickett is a clown, but at least he can speak in coherent sentences. I don't know how Friemund has a job in radio.

And you're right, the guest didn't say anything we didn't know already.

I would never want a player of Henry's caliber to leave early if it can be helped. But I definitely want him to be as successful as possible in the NBA.

"if it can be helped"

By who?  Would you want Wojo to stunt his development, or would you prefer for Henry to get complacent and not work hard?

"a player of Henry's caliber" leaves after one year of college.  If he doesn't then he really wasn't "a player of Henry's caliber".

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Do I not have to work ever again and get 100k a year? Then yes!

You have totally redefined the term "Sh1t eating grin" for me.
