Quote from: onepost on Today at 01:53:52 PMSo what's our read on the 2027 class now that we can get going on it?
Three open spots I think - main targets would be Donovan Davis, Jaxson Davis, Devin Cleveland (my #1 hope), Jack Kohnen, Kager Knueppel?

The great thing is that they're all pretty damn close to Milwaukee - LaLu in Indiana (Cleveland), Wisconsin (Donovan Davis, Kohnen, Knueppel), and Illinois (Jaxson Davis).  So Shaka can be front and center as often as he wants, which made a huge impression on Egbuonu in particular.

Involved with Antonio Pemberton and Micah Gordon as well.  I believe Gordon is planning an official visit to Marquette at some point.

Next season, MU will have 3 bigs, 2 little PG's and 10 players between Tre And Royce in size. Tre, Zaide, and Sean are the ones slated to leave after 27.  And Chase after 26.   So, IMO, the emphasis for 27 needs to be guards.

I had heard the staff anticipated an early commit from Dooney Johnson, so maybe that surprise to Gonzaga spurs Shaka to push for Donovan Davis.

I've talked about it with a couple people, but I see it as:
- PG: Jaxson Davis, Micah Gordon, Devin Cleveland
- Shooter: Jack Kohnen, Kager Knueppel
- Wing: Donovan Davis

Jerel has the strong connection with Jaxson Davis, so maybe that's the difference in landing him at PG.  Love Cleveland's game and you're right, Gordon visits soon.

ISU was Kohnen's first big offer IIRC, and they're always a gigantic pain in our ass so who knows how that will shake out.  I know the Knueppel fam loves Shaka and staff so maybe we pivot to Kager.

Mark Few has already named a successor.  Maybe he'll call it quits after this year or next and Dooney will consider his options.

Bummer on the news on Dooney.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Quote from: Hards Alumni on Today at 08:54:05 AMYou said it was the deepest most talented roster in 40+ years.

That's what provoked the "Bro, what."

Indeed.

Maybe there is more depth of talent on this one - maybe - but otherwise that statement is laughable. I wish it were true that our top 5-7 players this season are more talented than those of the 2023-24, 2012-13, 2002-03 and 1993-94 teams (among others) but it's not close.

TBD.  Hopefully he is somewhat right.

Correct.  I don't think he's right but I'd happily celebrate if he is.
