Quote from: brewcity77 on Today at 01:38:00 PMI look at these first two games and it's so clear that we have future defensive stars at the point (NJ), wing (Stevens), and center (Clark).

Somewhat related, and observational on a 2 game sample size. So it will probably change within a game or two.

Adrien Stevens is an offensive player. Stands in the corner. Makes threes. Doesn't turn it over. Commits freshman fouls on defense.

Much more Kam, Zaide, Jop, than Mitchell. Though the sample size is negligible.

I didn't think it would be possible ....in this new age....to go 4 years without losing even 1 rotation player to the portal.

It really speaks to how thorough Shaka and his staff are in the recruiting process to make sure there is alignment in what the player and his family value and what  Marquette has to offer.

Stevens has committed 2 fouls in 28 minutes so far.......he seems fine to me.

Very mature player for a freshman......doesn't try to do too much. 4 assists and no turnovers.

He hasn't got any steals yet if that is your point.....I would agree.

He seems stronger but not as quick as Stevie to me.

Next season, 3 bigs, 2 sub 6' pgs, 10 players between Tre and Royce in height.   Switchables.   And woe to anyone who is lazy even for a single rep.

And one of those fouls was a super clean steal.

He is legit.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Adding to this, but MU can spend way more time on little things that add up to win more games with continuity. Don't have to spend time installing offenses and defenses to 5 new rotation players every summer.

Stevens will get 20+ minutes this season/may even crack the starting lineup depending on matchup.  He can be a sub for both Chase and Zaide.  He's the best looking freshman in my opinion during Shakas time as coach.  And Nigel is 1A best freshman we've seen under Shaka.

Shaka's recruiting has ramped up in quality every year, and his retention is amazing. This is the deepest, most talented MU roster I recall in 40+ years.

Quote from: muwarrior69 on Today at 01:48:11 PMWhy would he have to wait a year and a half. He could redshirt this spring semester and play next fall, unless I don't understand the rules as I thought that is what Joey Hauser did?

He wouldn't, if he comes early his redshirt will be the 2025-26 season. Then he'll play next year.

Quote from: Its DJOver on Today at 01:50:09 PMYou understand the rules, you do not understand the question asked.

I believe the rule is still 5 years to play 4.  If Nash redshirts 2nd semester, that starts his clock. He would then have 4 seasons of eligibility, starting next year.

Other than injury, there is no "double redshirt."
