Love it!  Hard to find highlights, but can watch on his huddle.  Athletic and can shoot.  Nothing wrong with that.

Impossible. Philly pipeline broken due to DJ Newbill.

Sounds like Sheek and Egbuonu might be the priority targets now in the class of 2026, with Sheek possibly reclassifying?  Vaughn Karvala a bit of a wild card, but have heard he might be looking to go out of state.

Dooney Johnson definitely the top target in 2027.  Who else are we prioritizing here?

Other 2027 targets at this still early stage.....Jack Kohnen......Jaxson Davis.....Donovan Davis

From what I heard expect D. Davis to be an ISU Cyclone and Kohnen to be either a Cyclone or Badger. MU in a much better spot for Dooney it sounds like comparatively unless blue bloods get involved

Pearson was going to be a Cyclone too......it's still early.....lots can change.

Thanks for posting, Mark.

Taking a quick look at the Big East signees in the top 150 ...

Marquette's 4 commits rank first. UConn has 3, two of which are #12 and #36. Providence, Nova, Butler and DePaul each has 2, but none are in the top 40 and most are around the same ranking as ours (or lower). St. John's and Creighton has 1 apiece. (Surprised Pitino stooped so low as to take a high school player.)

Only two are bigs: #36 to UConn and #140 to DePaul; both are 7-footers. Butler's #135 is a 6-8 wing. Otherwise, no other BE signee in the top 150 is taller than Marquette's Miletic (6-7) or Phillips (6-6).

The Weasels have only one signee on the list: #119 (6-3 SG Kinzinger).

D. Davis is my good friends little brother; from everything I've heard from his older bro he's not leaning too hard any particular direction(he did say he's not a huge UW fan). We probably need to let his recruitment play out a bit longer before we can name any of his preferred schools.

Kohnen is very much in play for MU too.  Wayyy too early to write off any of these 2027s.

Egbuonu is definitely the priority now for 2026.

Karvala ending up at MU would be very, very surprising.  He wants to go out of state, but neither in state school has really pushed for him either for various reasons.

Adam Boyd is the other 2026 name to know.  We lead for him and he's playing well in the UAA circuit this spring, but it sounds like we arent pushing super hard for a commit yet.  Spots are tight for 2026 now, have to be sure about who we take other than hopefully Egbuonu.

MuMark

What about Sammy Jackson? Seems like he might be a backup plan as well?

JTJ3

I'd assume Jackson is a backup plan too?  There's probably a lot more too but Egbuonu seems to be the Plan A target.

Sammy Jackson and Lucas Morillo are two newer names to know for 2026.

2027 targets include Devin Cleveland, Davion  Thompson, and Jaxon Davis.  All Chicago area PGs ranked in the top 70 by 247.

Do your part, Bgerrits: obnoxiously pester a high school kid about where he should spend his college years.  I believe in you.

I absolutely love this comment from Adam Finkelstein on the Ethan Johnston commitment:
"This is classic Marquette. Doing their work early, evaluating a high-upside prospect (Johnston has grown 10 inches in 3 years), and prioritizing him before most others have a full appreciation for how good he could become."

I get annoyed as anyone that we sit out the portal and seemingly stand-still while everyone else adds pieces. But Shaka and staff have a philosophy, they abide by it entirely, and the 2024, 2025, and likely 2026 classes reflect that with TONS of talent. Pearson in his Dodds interview (I know I know) explicitly stated our loyalty to HS guys and focus on development from within is largely what attracted him to Marquette over everyone else. With potential NIL crackdowns coming, we're set up even better. Let's keep it rolling.

Small correction but Jackson's not a new name--we offered back in September or October and I saw at least one mention of the staff watching him this past winter at Roman Catholic.

Some newer 2026 names (along Morillo) with  that the staff has shown some level of interest in the last couple of months:
  • Jordan Williams - 6'6 wing from the Chicago burbs
  • Jason Singleton - 6'4 guard from Columbus, OH
  • Kuai Deng - 6'9 forward from New Jersey
  • Sibu Socks - 6'4 guard from Dallas
  • Josh Irving - 6'11 center from California

Great stuff. Thanks for the correction on Jackson.

Sibu Socks is a 10/10 name.
