Seems like a Wrightsil-level move

Naveh just turned 18 years old a month ago and at least in some game videos, Naveh has shown the ability to shoot 3's.

Hard to say. Could be someone at a Gold level, who's ready to contribute a few minutes off the bench, or someone like O-Max who needs a year or two to adjust, or someone like Benn Mathurin who is a high-major starter from day one.

Looks like a good athlete at 6'7 with good form on his jumper based on the video on twitter.  Wouldnt be shocked if he could play a few minutes as a backup 3/4 so Gold can play more 5.

He is very good off ball at cutting. He is a decent corner three shooter. He has the athletic ability to do the rest but it needs work.

I'm in, this makes way more sense than transfers for a backup 5 man. Look at the NBA.

In the finals are the Denver Nuggets, and the Miami Heat. Their backup 5s are DeAndre Jordan (playing 3mpg), and Cody Zeller (playing 9.2 mpg).

Just play small.

It might take him until his second year, but who cares. I typically takes two years for transfers, it defiantly takes two years for freshmen.

I’m OK if he any of the above.

How did come to this assessment? A handful of minutes of highlights, and combined with watching a 1 full game at 1.5 speed, scanning for when he was on the court. It took a grand total of 20minutes. Was able to do it while eating lunch today. He played in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament. It is basically the "youth champions league" tournament that take place for 8 of the best U-18 European club programs. It was significantly easier to watch him play than it ever was to watch ben gold play.

Minutes of watching him combined with how well Wake Forest has been run as of late, and how well they did with identifying Bobi last year makes me optimistic about him, but he needs still needs work.

I could be wrong, but i made a 3 sentence assessment of him.

Just saw that UNC might be the beneficiary of two of their 2024 recruits reclassifying to 2023:
https://tarheelswire.usatoday.com/2023/05/06/two-tar-heels-listed-as-reclassification-candidates/

Given the current and projected MU scholarship situation, it might be ideal to fill the current openings with reclassified 2024 recruits. Does anyone know if Owens or Parham are eligible as 2023 recruits?

Parham is still 16 so.. i doubt it. Owens no idea. I personally don't like reclassifications.

Worked for Markus, aina

It did. Could have been better for MU's defense is there was one less year of Howard and Rowsey overlap. It didn't work for Symir.

https://247sports.com/longformarticle/college-basketball-assessing-recent-history-of-reclassification--189815813/

Quick list using this 247 list.

Worked for
Markus Howard , Jalen Duran, Kira Lewis, Jonathan Kuminga (who went to the G League), Shaedon Sharpe (who didn't play),  Josh Primo (until he literally exposed himself)

Didn't Work for
GG Jackson, Emoni Bates, N'Faly Dante, Khristian Lander, Enoch Boakye, Jonathan Aku, Addison Patterson, Meechie Johnson, Joey Baker, Devin Askew, Justice Williams, Chris Smith, Carter Whitt, A.J. Lawson  and Ashton Hagans.

I think the fact that Symir isn't a high level player is more of a problem than his reclassification was.

Who?

Seriously, I believe he started 1 semester early to rehab. Actual playing career started on time, not early.

I think the motivations of many of those on your "didn't work" list are questionable--how many were guys only intended on spending a year in college anyway and thought they could get away with earning a paycheck a year earlier. I don't think that's the case for either of MU's 2024 recruits.

Plus, the situation might be ideal at Marquette.

The roster is already loaded, so you could even afford to redshirt. Get access to MU's weight room, learn the playbook, learn MU's system in practice, get used to academic life, recruit NIL partners, etc. Got to be better than spending another year in HS.

And if it turns out MU isn't able to use those scholarships, at least they aren't going to waste.

All of the recruits on that list are of a similar top 40ish tier in their initial classes. Additionally those success were 5 stars and Markus.

A Marquette assistant could make 1 phone call to a nice prep school with 90% of the resource Marquette has in at any moment in time. That way our recruits would actually get to play basketball. Let the recruits have live reps. Development isn't linear.

They'll likely use at least one of the scholarships anyways. Give the other one to a walkon for a semester. It really doesn't aid their prep as much as people think it does.
