You actually have a degree from Marquette?

All I know is that I can't wait for the day that the two USCs play each other in a bowl game. Trojans vs. the Cocks.

Of course, you've gotta take the Trojans to cover.     ;D

It is interesting to see the dichotomy between the guard and the forward position. The staff seemed to have handed out offers to guards like candy but has been very targeted with the big men they are courting. Definitely feels like the staff wants to embrace an approach of having a lot of big guards and a handful of mobile bigs.

Do we even need a center?

In the old, pre-3 point line days, we definitely need a sturdy, assertive center. The goal was to get the ball as close to the bucket before shooting. A center helps clear the lane or can rebound and slam the ball home.

Now, with long rebounds, I'm actually of the belief that a traditional center may be a liability. I'd rather have a front line of Oso, Dawson and Lewis who are tall and strong as opposed to a 7 foot, slow, can't shoot aircraft carrier. Plus, with long rebounds, position rather than height is the key to rebounding. Plus, when you see Theo's build, I think the refs whistle him for scratching his nose. There's an officiating bias against assertive centers, as I suspect any Theo-watcher could tell us.

As an old-timer, I remember a couple of our pre-Chones teams where we really didn't have a true center. The tallest guy on our team one year was 6'6", but boy, we could leap.

On the other hand, if we can recruit the next Kareem, go for it! Of course, would Coach Wojo know what to do with him?

If nothing else, you've gotta have someone who can guard another team's big center.  He doesn't have to be offensively dominant, but we can't get pushed around down low by teams who do have a dominant center.  Georgetown always seems to have one.

Nope. He's too stoopid. He'd probably make Kareem the backup PG. It's easy to see why so far under Wojo we've gone 23-157, with zero NCAA tourney bids. When folks ask where I went to college, I'm too embarrassed to tell them. I just say, "Eff Wojo."

I'm for situational small ball, but you've got 13 scholarships, I see no reason why you shouldn't have at least one 6'-9", 235 lb and up guy, regardless of how limited his skill set may be.

Fav player when I was there, putting him on Tucker was without a doubt the best coaching decision TC ever made.

Grimm was actually your favorite Marquette basketball player of that era? Really?

That depends on how you define era.  Grimm was my favorite (but by no means best) player during my time as a student.  Similar to how Matt Heldt and Rob Frozena have their "cult" following, I loved watching Grimm play.  It was rarely pretty, but it was always fun.

Someone needs to toss Barron Trump a basketball. That kid is 14 and it looks like he is at least 6'7".

I was thinking the same thing. He seemed extremely tall.

But before he is given a basketball, he looks to need to work on basic coordination. Looks far from an athlete at this point.

Interesting. To each his or her own.

I was perfectly happy to see Grimm not play, and I thought it was a sign that we had become a good team when Heldt couldn't get in games any more.

But I still appreciated each young man's contribution to the program, that's for sure.

I truly agree with this. I appreciate everyone who wore the MU jersey. Heck, I had some dreams when I was at MU that I was a walk on.  Sadly I woke up.

MU class of 2022 target Trejuan Holloman has picked up FOOTBALL offers from Iowa and Iowa state
It is great to see the football offers, shows Tre's athletics dynamism. If he comes to MU, his Scoop name should be JJJ 2.0

JJJ wasn't even the most athletic player in his recruiting class.   ?-(

This the second time that you've pitched this nickname. What exactly do a 6'5" 205 lb SG from Memphis with the initials JJJ and a 6'1" 165 lb PG from St. Paul have with the initials TJH in common beside the last syllable of their first name?

Tre means Three add that to Juan and you get 3 Juans  So acronym becomes  JJJ . Tre is the newer version so he becomes 2.0

JJJ 2.0

I like it because it keeps a good memory of   JJJ , one of our more exciting  players in recent years.
