Corey Evans FutureCast him to Iowa State.  Panic accordingly

I don't get the "panic" terminology. Hunter was offered, said it was his dream school, so why didn't he just say "OK, I'm all in?"  Maybe MU told him he was second in line and the scholarship would be his, if player number one declined.  No one knows and its not as if Hunter was a Top 50 recruit.

Per Rivals, probably the best recruiting site:

Mitchell is ranked #77 in class and is 6ft 2 and 175
Hunter is ranked #89 in class and is 6ft and 160

It was said tongue-in-cheek.  I’d take either and I’d take both.

Maybe OD can chime in, but I'm figurin' Hunter passed on MU first.

I got nothing.

As I've said, it's hard to ask questions when I don't run into kids in the hallway.

Until signing day Mitchell can change his mind. I doubt Wojo is asking him to wait.
I am distressed by posters who seem to want to un-recruit a recruit.

Per 247, Hunter is ranked #79, Mitchell #113.

Per ESPN, Hunter is ranked #62, Mitchell is not in the top 100.

I don’t know which ranking is the most “reliable”, but I’m pretty sure I know why you say it’s Rivals.

Hunter is much more explosive then Mitchell, it will just be interesting how it works out in college.   I do not see Mitchell making a big contribution for a few
years. Does not look real quick in the video watched,   See who has a better career in 4 years, the best for both.

At the end of the day, if it is Stevie Mitchell, I hope the fans of Marquette will give him full support and not obsess over Tyrese Hunter.  I also hope if Hunter chooses another school, he has a great career except for any games he may play against Marquette

Agree and I hope people will not come down on the Marquette coaches.  They recruited both players very hard and Stevie was the one that decided Marquette was for him.

Did Villanova offer Hunter?
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

From that article:

As the Under Armour Association season came to a close, Mitchell was named the UAA 16U MVP after leading Philly Pride to the top spot in UAA and the number one ranking in the country. The small town kid was officially declared the best 16U player on a major shoe company summer circuit.

Oh… by the way, he also led Philly Pride to the 16U National Championship.

Just sayin', maybe the MU coaches see something in Mitchell.....

IMHO, Wojo's recruiting has been good. The players are all quality people. The on court results have been the issue.

I think sometimes we forget that less than 1% of MU fans will even know about this Tyrese versus Stevie deal- pretty much the people on these message boards that pay very close attention. Most casual fans, which make up the majority of MU b-ball fans, won’t even know about it so I doubt people obsess about Tyrese if he goes elsewhere.

That said, you are likely accurate that MUscoop will obsess about it for at least 4/5 years, especially if Tyrese ends up much better than Stevie

No different or less fair than missing out on Wally S, Lamb or Dunn.

Sure there will always be some examples of recruiting escapades that people remember, but the fact that none of those examples mentioned occurred under this staff shows how infrequent it happens.  We were finalists for Kalif Young, and even after missing out on him and then proceeding to play against him 2+ times a year for 4 years, no one really mentions/remembers that recruiting battle.  Do you think Jamari Sibley and his proximity to Milwaukee will ever really be more than a footnote whenever we play Gtown?  Unless the recruitment is about a 5 star prospect (QG, NM), or has an overly unusual twist (Newbill), It'll most likely be forgotten about unless someone is in the mood to troll.

Maybe it’s because it’s really rare that someone really wants to come to MU, we do something to discourage or not reciprocate and then they blow up elsewhere.  The best example in Wojos era could be Herro..but it’s questionable if he actually wanted to come to MU

Who knows what will happen with this kid but it’s only relevant if he becomes really good.

Even then it's still unlikely to be remembered for more than the remainder of the offseason IMO.  Had we been on likely lottery pick Haliburton early I'm sure we could have landed him, and he's really only mentioned whenever 4ever or willy decide that a thread has too much positivity.

Hunter to ISU, Nojo's rejoice.

Seems like a good player. Mitchell also seems like a good player. If for whatever reason the coaching staff prefers one over the other, I can’t be to worked up over this.

Wish nothing but the best for him.

On another note, is it just me or does it feel like recently ISU has been one of the best out-of-state schools at scooping up players from WI?

They got Tyrese Haliburton in 2018 who then blew up to be a likely lottery pick.  Before that was Terrence Lewis in 2017, who has had a fairly underwhelming career thus-far, averaging a career best 6 ppg last year.  (Excluding Nick N) Before that, I believe that you have to go back to Matt Thomas in 2013 who had a decent list of high major offers (us included), but was still seen as the third best prospect in the state behind Koenig and Duane.  He had a decent college career although was never a star, and has worked himself into a nice niche role as a three point specialist with the Raptors (kind of a poor man's Novak).  Of course they've also had their fair share of MU transfers in too (Christopherson, McKay, Burton).

You can even go back further to players like Diante Garrett and grad transfers like Kore Lucious.
