I am curious how the situation at Georgetown will affect their recruiting.   Will they make Karim one of their Mane priorities?

Even if they make him a priority, I doubt they'll be putting in any more work than our staff.  Like with Quentin Grimes, Nico Mannion, and Joey Hauser, Karim is basically the only 2020 guy we're currently on (correct me if I'm wrong).  I'd fully expect the full court press on him like we saw with those 3.

Obviously we're all biased here (or biased against to certain people), but all else equal I think Marquette would be a MUCH more attractive landing spot than Gtown currently: our most glaring need is what he'd be filling with a number of really nice pieces around him.

I think it will depend on who "they" is. If the Marquette or Oregon scandals broke today, would Buzz or Altman have survived? I'm not sure Ewing will be there next year, maybe not even next month.

I don’t know, Izzo has survived.

Schools will find ways to keep successful and popular coaches like Izzo and Altman and weather the storm.  I'm not sure Ewing fits in that category since I don't think basketball is as important to the place as it was a generation ago.

Buzz may not have survived if what happened then occurred now.  Marquette did the right thing by getting rid of Cottingham.

A different coach at Georgetown would be in serious trouble.
Ewing's status as a legend there may allow him to survive.

It may, and that wouldn't shock me. But the trajectory of the program took a big hit with those transfers, and it could get worse if they have more departures. There's also a big difference between the political and media climate in a city like DC as opposed to East Lansing or Eugene.

Yep.  And as I said earlier, I don't think basketball is as important to the mission of Georgetown as it was a generation ago.

Mane and Garcia could do a lot of damage. Like to hear we could be the team to beat in his recruitment. Obviously a long way to go but one can dream.

Survive the season maybe. But could see a behind closed doors chance to bow out after the year to save face like Mullin did

Not a fan of taking a kid that has publicly said one and done.  I don’t believe, on the whole, there is a vested interest on their behalf to assimilate to the school, team, etc.  Some can do it, but seen too many where it becomes disruptive.

I hope that if he does come to MU it is with the absolute understanding you are a student athlete, you go to class, you are a teammate first second and third.

Is it that different than a grad transfer? I mean wasn't it reinhardt that didn't even clean out his room when he left?

Yeah it's a reward for those that actually graduate to play where ever right away but if the argument is vested interest in the school and assimilating on the team etc I don't see them as that different of situations

If assimilating into the school mattered, Patriot League programs would be dominant and the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world would be on the bubble.
I'll take my chances winning with one-and-dones. Certainly the data supports that.

Which one-and-dones have been "disruptive?"

Zion disrupted himself right out of his shoes. Do we need that kind of distraction? Pass.

Good points. In addition, with the massive increase in transfers we see in college hoops it seems the vested interest in assimilating argument has little merit.

If you have a program that can bring in 1 year players, only fools would shy away from that.

Do you mean a brother brother? or a non-traditional brother?

The bottom line is we have very good history with Canadian BB players.   :)
Probably because they're the only ones looking at Milwaukee as going south, unless we can corner the Iceland and Nordic markets.

No need for teal. Bo himself said UW doesn’t do rent a players after they lost to Duke in the national title.

They only do rent a masseuse.
