I hope they land an exemplary young man that represents the university well on and off the court and represents what the NCAA student ideal is

I hope they land a dude who can D up his man.

Blah, blah, blah.

"A" or "B"? Championships with good kids/average at best students (my preference) or average teams with GPAs you can brag about/feel superior about. They're both fine. Given the choice, I'll take "A" - you can have "B". We'll both be happy.

False choice

The trouble is, it will sound like an excuse because we've never won the national championship, but winning just isn't all that important to me.” Al McGuire

Which is A and which is B?

What do you do with the cancerous player C who is an All American, presumably a 3.5 GPA student, and leads a Catholic group on campus, all while being a year younger than his class?

Your snide comments made us put you on the ignore list. Please get off this recruiting thread.

Haven't really seen much about the Hoggard visit. Ben Steele hasn't mentioned much either that I have seen. Silence is good? Things will trickle out? Half Life 3 confirmed?

Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Ben’s columns usually come shortly after the visit. Not during. Other than from him or one of the national recruiting guys we likely won’t hear anything. Even if we do it will be boilerplate crap... “visit was great, met the team, they told me I’ll be the focal point of the offense, blah blah blah.”
If you want real details then figure out a way to get Big Daddy back. Or ask Herman, I think he is normally the tour guide

247 Sports updated their 2021 rankings. A few notable names I saw:

2) Chet Holmgren (Up 2)
3) Patrick Baldwin, Jr (Down 1)
8) Michael Foster (Down 1)
63) Micawber "Mac" Etienne (Up 9)
93) Javonte Brown-Ferguson (Up 8)
102) Tyrese Hunter (Down 32)

Provided we can put a capable supporting cast around him, I feel like we should be a real player for Baldwin.

1) His Dad worked for Chris Collins so there has to be some relationship with Wojo
2) His Dad's job makes it tough to get to every game at Cameron Indoor, the Fiserv on the other hand...
3) Playing in the Horizon is not going to happen, the Big East the Fiserv on the other hand...
4) Wojo's Team USA connections

Of course this is dependent on Symir, Brendan and Greg being real players.  No sense in having Henry 2.0.

I wouldn't completely count out UWM.  He may want to play for his dad and can get to the NBA from there.

That happened at Detroit. Was it Ray McCallum at Detroit? He still got drafted too.

I’d be shocked if it isn’t Duke.

I'm not as certain, but I'd be shocked if it was Marquette. No reason to think there's that much local loyalty (nor reason there should be).

You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Agreed.  While he can get to the NBA from anywhere (UWM included), playing at Duke is just a wise business decision for any one-and-done caliber player.  You can be the third best player on the team and still get drafted in the lottery and have a multi-year shoe deal.

Yup.  He's spoken highly of Duke and "the brotherhood" and now his AAU teammate will be spending his one year in college at Duke, and unless he has a terrible experience I'm guessing Baldwin will be hearing about how it's a great place to be from him constantly.

In addition ,his Mom won’t have to divide her attendance between teams.

If he is as good as advertised, he'll be a lottery pick whether it is Duke or UWM.
