When did Buzz ever outrecruit a blue blood? If I remember right, his highest ever recruit was Vander and it was always going to be Marquette or Wisconsin. Yes he got the solid 3 and 4 stars, but so has Wojo with Markus, Sam, Joey, Cain, Bailey etc.

Yeah.......Wojo has recruited just fine.

I think what hurts Wojo in recruiting is his personality. He comes across as a nice guy and potential recruits generally like him. However, he is less exciting than many other coaches personality wise. It pays to be a character like Al McGuire or Buzz. I compare Wojo personality wise to Hank Raymonds. A solid person, who lacked the charisma needed to win over the top recruits when the blue bloods show up.

I wouldn't make the mistake of thinking that the Wojo you see at the press conference is the Wojo that the players and recruits get to see.

A couple things to consider. First, there have not been that many actual 2019 commitments yet. Second, we are talking about 17 and 18 year old kids and they all have fancy dreams of where they want to go. As  time goes by, and the details of this years recruiting landscape becomes more crystallized, some of the "offers" disappear or kids finally realize the competition for their spot . For example, Louisville has 45 offers outstanding and there are many kids who have them on their final list. Yet they can only offer a handful.  As long as MU has a dialogue going with several quality recruits things will be fine.  Also we only have to two scholarships to offer. If we can get 5 or 6 guys on campus for officials history has demonstrated we can close. Finally, there is always the spring window and a lot can happen between now and then recruiting wise.
Winning is overrated. The only time it is really important is in surgery and war.

Jajuan I believe was actually slightly higher but still no blue blood offers to my recollection.

Buzz's highest recruits were: Junior Cadougan, Erik Williams, Jamail Jones, Vander, Steve Taylor, Juan Anderson, Duane Wilson, Deonte Burton, Jajuan Johnson. Maybe add Jamil and Luke as former top recruits. (Heck even throw in Cohen, Noskowiak, Hill and Harris) Of all of those former top 100 recruits only Luke had a blue blood offer, unless you include Michigan state as a blue blood but Wojo's kicked Izzo's a$$ more than Buzz.

1. Vander Blue was Buzz's highest rated HS recruit.

2. And if Wojo's recruits are better and Buzz's teams without Crean's players are much, much better than Wojo's without Buzz's players what can we deduce?

1.  Vander was ranked 48th on RSCI composite.  But four ranking services had him ranked between 24-35.  One had him 90th and another had him unranked.

Jajuan Johnson ranked 30th on RSCI composite.  All six rankings were between 25-42.

2.  We can deduce that some people can't stop living in the past.

Lennys still gets on Chico’s for his Crean obsession but doesn’t seem to understand he’s just the same way with Buzz.

Eh, based on the times I’ve met him, I think he’s usually closer to press conference Wojo. Nothing wrong with that, he’s just more of a regular guy, as opposed to a dynamic, magnetic personality type like Al.

1. See Lazar's post.

2. I did not say better at any point, that's words you put into my mouth, I'd appreciate you not doing that. The point of that list is to have Bilsu think of all those recruits which were blue blood recruits? And which could Wojo not have gotten? Because none had offers that were worlds better than say Ellenson, Cheatham, Howard, Hauser, Bailey, and J Hauser.

I don't get on Chicos for his "Crean obsession" - I get on him for lying.

Despite your diagnosis, doctor, I'm not "obsessed" with Buzz - though I concede I'm a big fan. I didn't bring him into this thread - others did.

C'mon Sultan, get with the program. When we don't make the final 10, or 8, or 6 or 5 of guys we're recruiting (every guy we've been after so far for 2019) that's actually GOOD news. I know this because the Scoop intelligentsia tells me so. Maybe it becomes bad news in November or when we get to the #300 guy without any interest, but for now - so far, so good.

This might be the first time that intelligentsia and wee willie have been combined in a human brain.

The way I look things now, we have three top Jr.s in the country playing in our backyard and I would be very disappointed if we could not land of them. Sadly, I do not think we will be in running for any of them. We are just not a level to attract this type of talent, even local kids.

Who are you referring to as "three top Jrs"?
Johnson, Sibley, Beekman?

Johnson can go anywhere he wants, not holding my breath for that one. However a timely elite 8/final four run before he narrows down things would make things interesting. Wojo taking a side job teaching gym class at Nicolet could make things interesting as well.
Sibley is barely top 100. We've shown no problem landing in-state non blueblood cailber top 100 players.  Wojo could coach Nicolet if he wanted to on his way home everyday this year if Sibley is a priority. Matt and Morrow will be gone so there will be minutes in theory. Theo will be a senior hopefully.
Beekman, not sure if he is sticking around here for the school year or headed back to LA. Either way he seems like he's an option (borderline top 100) and has a couple of the all-knowing, all-powerful crystal balls pointing to us, including a new one last week. Type of guy that should be ok with playing with McEwen around as a senior if he sees him will have the keys as a sophomore.
Polk is also at Nicolet and would seem attainable.

Yikes. Hopefully we get a little bit of a hit here.

Unrelated, Old Town Pub in Chicago flying the Marquette flag this morning. I had no idea that this was a Marquette bar.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

He did just get back from the Under Armour Steph Curry camp today, not sure how loyal those kids are to their AAU shoe companies, but the timing is interesting in relation to the shoe event. Nico was there as well.

Not true. Several were comparing Wojo and Buzz's recruiting before I offered my opinion.
