His Emmy Award-winning programming career includes the creation, production, distribution, and packaging of thousands of hours of television programming across ABC, ESPN, CBS, FOX, and NBC, as well as many prominent cable networks. Under his direction, Intersport has become the leader in brand-integrated sports television, creating specials and series for many of the world’s most recognized brands.
In 2003, Mr. Besser launched Intersport’s Sponsorship & Event Marketing Division, a group that now executes hundreds of events per year. Intersport was a finalist for the 2011 and 2012 Sports Business Award for Best in Sports Event and Experiential Marketing and has been named to Event Marketer’s “It List” eight consecutive years. Intersport assists numerous clients with sponsorships of and activation plans for events surrounding the Super Bowl, World Series, PGA Tour, Bowl Championship Series, NCAA Final Four, MLB All-Star Game and the NBA All-Star Game, to name a few. Intersport’s Cadillac Culinary Challenge won the 2011 and 2012 Ex Award (Event Marketer) for Best Mall Event Program.
In 2007, Mr. Besser directed Intersport’s launch of CelebTV.com, a Telly and Webby Award-winning entertainment news and information industry leader that creates multiplatform programming. CelebTV produces and globally syndicates 40 original, HD-quality weekly programs, has aggregated more than one billion video views online, and in 2013 became the second most-watched entertainment news network on the web, per comScore.
Also in 2007, Mr. Besser directed Intersport’s creation of an Emmy Award-winning program that consisted of four made-for-mobile television networks (Sports, Music, Entertainment and Spanish Language) exclusively for Sprint cell phones. In January 2008, Intersport was presented with the first NATPE Mobile Award for production excellence in cell phone content.
In 2008, Mr. Besser began Intersport’s 20 West Productions, which specializes in developing and producing general entertainment television for major cable and broadcast networks. Probably best known for producing the hit series “My Strange Addiction” for TLC, 20 West has established itself as a
brand at top networks, including the History Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, MSNBC, PBS and A&E and continues to develop innovative, compelling television for these bluechip network clients.
In 2011, Mr. Besser extended Intersport’s range of capabilities into multi-cultural marketing with the launch of Incito!, which leverages a deep understanding of the multi-cultural marketplace and consumer, as well as the media and activation capabilities of Intersport.
Mr. Besser is a graduate of Marquette University, where he played varsity golf and received the prestigious McCahill Award as the University’s outstanding student athlete. He is also a graduate of Marquette University Law School.
