MU still wins at least 8 games in conference.  Still wins at least 2 on the road.

We'll win some we shouldn't and lose a few we shouldn't.

I'll call it now.  We beat Nova this year.

Not at all....

Moral of the day.  Winning on the road in the Big East is hard.

madtownwarrior

you do know that prior to this season, Depaul is 4 - 41 at home in conference ?

awful loss..

Johnny, your posts are so damn hard to read. Can you use punctuation, spell check once in a while and ise the right word once in a while?

Oh, and come in off the ledge.  The Big East will be fine this year.

I'm with these brilliant b-ball minds... MU will only beat Depaul at home.

I'm guessing these are the same guys that said MU would only win 6 games all year after the early non-con struggles?

Very disappointing loss, as they were in control and should have put DePaul away.  A lot to learn from the game for Wojo and the team... hopefully they do learn.

MU has struggled at DePaul many times, including some ugly losses.

Henton and Providence looked tough, so hopefully they regroup and come out firing.

1. We can beat any team in the league.

2. We can lose to any team in the league.

3. To all of those out on the ledge - please jump now. Save us all from the whining.

I have decided to become a fan of the UC-Santa Cruz Banana Slugs because it is now obvious that Marquette will never, ever win another basketball game.

We -- oops, I mean "they" -- are doomed. Doomed, I tell you!!!!

First, Henry and the others will back out of their letters of intent. Then, Wojo will quit. And then Marquette will dump its basketball program all together and replace it with ladies curling.

Because that's exactly what happens when a college team loses a basketball game -- the self-imposed death penalty. As it should.

It was fun while it lasted though, huh?

(As an aside, this is why I usually wait at least 24 hours after a bad loss to even open Scoop in my browser.)

I still believe that this team, with all 8 contributing, can win some games.    I have never bought into the idea that this is a tourney team.   Not enough experience, not enough proven scoring, not enough height, not enough depth, new coach, etc.  But I have seen glimpses that have given me hope.   Wojo clearly has some learning to do, being 13 games in the big chair.   But when this team is firing on all cylinders, aggressively attacking the rim, disrupting passing lanes, they are a threat to anyone.   I just don't know if they have enough firepower to finish the deal.   It is imperative that Wojo gets more disciplined in his substitution patterns.    It is also vitally important that everyone is working to get better every day.   I haven't given up on STjr yet.   I haven't given up on the team, either.   I just never had high expectations.

Losing to DePaul is always a bad loss, especially when their leading scorer and post player misses the game and Marquette is up double digits midway through the second half.

I think most people are not upset per se in Marquette losing, but rather the way the team lost.  From Wojo to every player on the floor it was like a collective let down.  I think the team took a step backwards yesterday after a couple of weeks of promising growth.

There are the typical 'after a bad loss' posts being put up for sure, but using sarcasm to sugar coat a bad loss just gives credibility to those clamoring about how terrible the game was.

Many have said all along: we can beat anybody and we can lose to anybody.  DePaul is a painful loss to be sure.  But the season is not over. Let's see how we play.

The Equalizer

I have no doubt that DePaul will wind up in its usual and expected last place.

Every year (except 2009) DePaul manages to eke out a win or two in the Big East, and every year those wins come against a better team. This year one of those wins was against us.

Exactly, last year they beat Seton Hall and St. Johns at home and Butler on the road.  They also beat Georgetown in the conference tourney.  All those teams were better than them.

The year before that, they beat a good Providence team at Providence.

Unfortunately this year, they got us.  Live and learn.

I actually wouldn't be shocked if DePaul finished higher than us this year. It is going to be very difficult for MU to win a Big East road game and most of the home games will be struggles too.

I wouldn't be surprised if DePaul goes 1-17, I think in the 2cd half we almost played worse vs DePaul then vs Omaha. This one stings, stings like a brazillian yellow jacket to the eyeball.

MU was dominating this team for the majority of the game despite a poor shooting game after the Xmas break layoff. They just pissed it away at the end with bad turnovers, poor shot selection, and a failure to hit free throws. The rookie coach will learn as well about in game adjustments.

Plenty of games to play and grow.

exactly. the loss was awful but mostly because it slipped away at the very end. despite how poorly we shot/etc were still up double digits for the majority of the game... that might be putting lipstick on a pig but not like this team wasn't or won't be competitive...

The only thing I'm sugar-coating is the ledge so it's a little sticky and I won't fall off of it before I jump.
