Family illness was the reason he considered transferring.

Sure, whatever you say.

Now he just has to explain his formula for success to STjr........

Steve just needs to find consistency.  He's shown more than Juan did at the same point in their careers.  I'm very bullish on Steve, he and Luke are going to be a really good tandem the rest of this year I think.

Yes, but it's a very inexact science.  And even the great coaches can't figure out every single player.

Wojo said it himself not long ago, as a player, he always felt the burden was on him to prove he had earned/deserved playing time (paraphrasing, but that was definitely the gist of what he said).

Agree, some have little motivation no matter what you do and others have no ability or desire to learn.

The real skills of the Butler's and Crowder's of the world are their motivation and willingness to learn and change accordingly. Unfortunately some great talents never fully materialize because of their unwillingness to adjust. Those issues are far beyond basketball and are the most painful to watch. To watch great talent go to waste in whatever endeavor is sad to witness. I think at this point we no longer have those issues in MU BB.

I thought Juan demonstrated a base set of skills over the last 3 years. Unfortunately they were not applied at the same time or consistently. He looked nervous on the court as a result. I think his own lack of confidence may have contributed to the coaches lack of confidence.  This is the first year he has applied the skills all at the same time and on a consistent basis. Net result is that he has blossomed and is now realizing on his full potential as a player . I believe if he keeps up this pace over the course of the year, we are going to perform well as a team .

Now he just has to explain his formula for success to STjr........

Agree Juan's lack of confidence contributed to Buzz's lack of confidence in him. That is pretty normal behavior but if your job is to develop players then you need to find ways to build self-confidence in slow developers. Anyone can coach LJ or DWade. Winning coaches that don't get the NBA players out of HS  with supreme confidence need to develop all types, not just the confident ones.

The whole "being a douche bag for the sake of being a douche bag" shtick fits you well.

Just don't expect people to take you seriously.

No, if that was my "shtick", I would have said a lot more in my earlier response.

You don't start with a harvest, you start with a seed. Make sure you are planting the right seeds, that's where the power is. Water the plant.
