well, another example of how powerful addiction is.  the warning signs were there over the years.  butch harmon tried to have a "come to jesus moment" with him.  i believe his success on the golf course lead others to look the other way?  college friends said they had trouble or couldn't keep up with him.  hopefully some consequences and public humility will put him on the right path.  this could possibly save his life.  hope for all the best on his rehab and the resumption of a pretty decent life and golf career. the usa will miss him in the ryder cup, but he will be busy saving the par of his life.  hit 'em straight dustin!

It's a shame but I hope he comes through the other side.  One of my favorite on the tour.  In hindsight he lost a good deal of weight in the last year or so.  May or May not have been due to cocaine but he didn't look healthier after losing the weight.

typically weight loss can occur with heavy drinking too as alcohol provides the majority of the calories while food becomes a buzz kill.  yes, cocaine will dry up the appetite and speed up the metabolic rate while allowing one to drink more
