I doubt we land him but it's good to see he mentioned us right off the back as still being interested. He's a real nice player and a guy of his size and well rounded game is exactly what we are looking for.

Maybe something crazy will happen.
Why? Inferiority complex? Aim high.

Easy for you to say.... but what does it mean? 8-)

Wingspan - includes your chest/frame.... reach - arms...

You can have a 'compact' chest, but long arms.. show wingspan doesn't measure out as being impressive, but for certain basketball functions the 'length' is actually excellent.

Amir is hoping to be back for the final evaluation period in the summer. He watched Henry's game here three weeks ago, just a couple of days after his injury. Seemed to be in pretty good spirits. (He and Henry were teammates in the past)

Now.. for him does he decide to commit now and not worry about showing and proving in July? Or focus on rehab and let the recruiting stuff play out as it may? With his skill level he's fine just working on getting healthy and not worrying about what schools will think in the late summer/early fall...

Much of his game - including instincts and passing - shouldn't be hindered a ton right off the bat. Would have liked to have seen him take a bigger role this HS season and in the summer (in terms of usage), but that's fine..

Great kid, lots of family support, excellent player... he'll be just fine. What does this mean from a UNC or others standpoint? Maybe "good" for other programs after him,...

Anyway, would be an A+ addition to MU if that's what ultimately happens.

Unfortunately Amir Coffey tore his ACL.  Hate to see that happen to a kid!

Coffey Suffers Season-Ending Injury
Dec 4, 7:12 PM
Hopkins (MN) 2016 shooting guard Amir Coffey, ranked the 34th best player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite, suffered a season-ending injury on Tuesday night as Hopkins took on Burnsville in their third game of the season. Ben Segelbaum of The Royal Page, the high school newspaper for Hopkins, first reported the details of the injury:

"Coffey came down hard after a rebound attempt and held his lower leg, but got up to limp off the court. Midway through the half, fans saw Coffey leaving Lindbergh Center on crutches. Per team source, Coffey has a deep bone bruise, sprained MCL, self healing fractures and a torn ACL. He will need to get surgery and is most likely out for the remainder of his junior season."

While some players come back from such injuries faster than others, the injury will likely cost Coffey both his junior season in high school and his final year of AAU eligibility this spring/summer. While that may put some damper on Coffey's recruiting interest, he has already managed to pick up offers from schools such as Minnesota, Arizona, Indiana, Iowa State, Michigan State, and several more.

Early-committing and not rushing things this summer is a relevant consideration for him as mentioned awhile back.. hope he winds up in the Big Ten or Big East for my viewing purposes, but wherever he lands will get a good one.

Not really. Think he was at Reebok Breakout this summer. Long, thin traditional.

Krmpotich's father was a star basketball player at Duluth (MN) Cathedral back in the early 70's and later played at UMD.  Thought you might have known that.

Mark Miller predicted Coffey to Marquette on 247 today.

http://247sports.com/Player/Amir-Coffey-25282

Oh man do I like this. I really really like this. I wanna go run all over the place and scream it from the mountains.

On an unrelated note, I was chatting with Corey Evans about Hauser... and for some reason his mom liked my tweet to Evans about how I was happy Wojo got in on him early (in no way did I tweet at Hauser or include his handle). Who knows what it means, but I like our 2016 prospect chances. Really wanna see Winston get on board too.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

That would be outstanding.  Is Coffey the one that is friends with Anim?

BeeJay, what say you about Coffey's game and his fit?

Apparently friends with Anim and lots of time playing with Henry as well.

Coffey and Anim played AAU together with Alex Illikainen on Howard Pulley

Good news but Miller isn't infallible had Stone to Udub

Juan Anderson's Mixtape

Coffey and Hauser would be a great.  Would love Winston too but think he'll choose Mich St.  Hoping for one big in 2016.  I really like Kevin Huerter too but can't get them all.

Herman Cain

Would be a big get for us. I like his basketball IQ.
