Will Jabari in Milwaukee help STJ?
« on: June 24, 2014, 09:17:03 AM »
I know it is premature, but it seems like the Cav's are leaning toward Wiggins. It likely means Jabari to the Bucks.

Do you think Jabari's presence in Milwaukee will help STJ? I think it will.

It could create a distraction or jealousy, but from what I have read about these two, it seems like they are both fine young men and I think it will be positive. When Jabari came to Madness to support his friend, while everyone knew he was not a serious Marquette recruit, that spoke volumes.

With the Mayo brothers, it could be quite a group.

Every report that came out yesterday said the Cavs are leaning towards Parker. The Cleveland ESPN radio guy said he's 80% sure they are taking Parker. Where are you getting your info from??

Nah, I don't think so.  Lasry spoke in Milwaukee yesterday, and though the Bucks are fairly interested in Exum, Lasry seemed to indicate that it would be Parker or Wiggins depending on what Cleveland does.

Yeah between this and his calling Bulls fans "douchy" in the LBJ thread, I think Chicos must have had a bad week in the attention department.  He's baiting everyone right now.

I think Parker to the Bucks was a real possibility until Embiid broke his foot. Now it seems like the Cavs have changed their focus to Parker. They need someone who can come in and make an impact, especially after last season, and Parker is the most NBA ready guy in the draft.

I'm a Bulls fan, but I desperately want the Bucks to succeed.  I want them to take whomever will help them win.  Parker or Wiggins will help tremendously.

It shouldn't be too hard.  The Cavaliers will manage to screw it up - again.  I wouldn't dismiss another wild card (like last year's Bennett) going number 1, i.e. Embiid, Gordon, Vonleh or Randle.

Jabari in Milwaukee will benefit Marquette in general. Ties to STjr and Wojo will be something worth talking about in the short term with recruits. Will obviously great For STJr to have an old friend playing for the Bucks.

Sorry, the idea that Coach Cal was trying to get him to be the first one semester and done player is interesting.  Tried to recruit him to come for 2nd semester only.  Sorry if you don't find that interesting.  His father, Cecil, said no to Coach Cal.

Cecil says that Kentucky's John Calipari even threw out the possibility of Dante joining Kentucky for the second semester of the season and jumping right into the fire.

"He would have been at a major disadvantage," Cecil said. "Behind the eight-ball. I shot that down and told the other schools that was not an option."

I had a great week....I went and F'd myself at your suggestion (Jesus, too?) and never felt better.  Yes, Bulls fans have been douchy about Lebron the last 4 years, to suggest otherwise is having one's head not attached to one's neck.  Bulls fans aren't the only ones.  It's amazing how disjointed people get here when you just tell the truth.

What's really amazing is confusing the realization that the sun rises in the east with a discovery of something worthwhile or interesting.

He would have been one of the first players ever to be recruited for one semester, the second semester and essentially not even need to attend classes.  I'm not aware of any other player in history that did this.

I find that interesting, because it would have been a first.  Coach Cal is definitely creative.  The fact that this could even be done or considered suggests to me the NCAA might want to close that loophole.

I was talking about the Kentucky part, and the offer to play 2nd semester only.  How is this even possible and how does the NCAA allow it to even be considered?

What is offensive about that? Now, if they were called the Whiskey-swilling Irish or the Drunk Potato Eating Irish, you might have a point.

I don't find Warriors offensive and the "fighting" part is implied in the name.

No, it doesn't matter because Notre Dame is an Irish serving institution (Irish naming themselves the Irish) and because the Irish are caucasian which is a privileged race in American culture.

But back on topic, I could see Parker "helping" Taylor. By that I mean he might show up at a game or two. Beyond that, I doubt it.

I also am hoping that the Bucks go for Exum.

I love that argument...it's like the one from people who say only caucasians can be racist.  Makes me laugh every time I hear it.  Especially with some of the stuff I have seen over the years with race on race crime not involving caucasians.  Always fun.  As MLK Jr's son said last year on MSNBC to many exploding heads I might add, anyone can be racist...anyone.  There is no privilege of any kind when it comes to acting out in that fashion.  You either are or you aren't.  Michael Eric Dyson and Clarence Page almost had a stroke each when those words came out of his mouth.  Good for him

Parker coming to the Bucks would have a minimal impact.

umm may wanna check about the way the Irish were treated when Notre Dame was naming themselves and such.  That name was not founded with good intentions... hence the mascot.

Actually, Notre Dame was an Irish serving institution. Where other universities were literally banning the Irish from attending, Notre Dame opened their doors. One of the few redeemable qualities about Notre Dame. The name was coined by the football players during a season where most of the team was Irish.

And now the Irish are considered a privledged class in America. If they were still treated the way they were back in the early 1900s, this wouldn't be the case.

OJ Mayo is literally an older brother to Todd Mayo and he only made it to one or two games last year if I remember correctly. If Parker gets drafted by the Bucks, I would be thrilled if Parker was a regular fixture at Marquette games. But I would put the over/under at 2-3 games.

+1. Better yet, trade 2 to the 76ers so they can take Wiggins for 3 and 10 and get Exum and Nick Young (unless Embiid or Randle are available at 10).

Congrats to my lil bro @JabariParker. So proud of what he has accomplished up until this point. This kid has greatness written all over him.

Phase 1 complete.

Begin phase 2, give Parker Steve Talyor's jersey and hope nobody notices.

Don't know that it will necessarily help STJ but I think Jabari being in Milwaukee, Wojo coaching STJ now, having coached Jabari previously, could lead to some recruiting benefits at Simeon, and/or from the Chicago area. But I don't think it will hurt anything. Hard to really say how much of a positive effect it will have on anyone.

Maybe Parker will spring for some tacos at Qdoba, hey?

Good plan, a Duke booster buying a Marquette player lunch. Get Duke on some probation, force Coach K to retire, and hire him as our AD to bring in Boeheim as our GA with their USA Hoops connections!

"Mothers with babies in strollers, tall teenagers and dads holding toddlers were in the audience. So were Parker's parents, Lola and Sonny, brothers Chris and Darryl and sisters Iman and Tilah, along with Parker's agent, B.J. Armstrong, and former Duke assistant and new Marquette basketball coach Steve Wojciechowski."

The Wojo hire continues to pay dividends.  I've never been excited about a Bucks draft pick -- or any NBA draft pick, for that matter -- but I'm stoked about Jabari coming to Milwaukee.
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Mbah Moute and Embiid.

Wait, no, nevermind.

These things don't matter.

I don't think that is an equal comparison. That was a different era in bucks basketball where LRMAM had requested to be traded multiple years in a row. I highly doubt LRMAM would mentor Embiid to come to Milwaukee just as he is trying to leave. In this situation, you have a guy who was obviously very excited to come to Milwaukee. He is more likely to speak highly of the city and help with recruiting. Not a ton but his presence with Wojo alone does make an impact.
