Carlino, if he doesn't get benched.

I'm also thinking of Matt as a leader for least favorite teammate.  I hope that I'm proven wrong.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Just effin' with Ners.

Joke was not lost on me Chili.  Almost included Derrick as an option in poll but didn't want to agitate/tweak his backers any further here.

Might be slightly high. Our players combined to avg 72 ppg last year. Having a more explosive point guard should net us an extra 10 per game there alone.

If Mayo is getting 15ppg and Carlino is getting 13ppg, there is no way that JJJ is getting 11ppg, Wilson is getting 8ppg and Dawson is getting 7ppg.

They might all be capable of getting those numbers, but it won't happen at the same time.  There's only so many minutes to go around.

i REALLY wish the derrick wilson crap would stop.  by all accounts the kid has done everything asked of him in a classy manner.  i was very vocal that buzz should have given more minutes to different guards, but that's not on derrick.  i'm not real big on ripping any college kids, especially ones that carry themselves in the same manner derrick does.  buzz is gone, wojo will make his choice, and we can rip him if it doesn't work.  derrick hasn't done anything wrong....and has done a lot right in the realm of a student-athlete.  buzz should have given him the support he needed to be successful in his role.

Avid, if you are referring to my post, you've mis-read my intent.  I was simply gigging Ners.  Ners took it as the joke intended.  End of story

I agree that Derrick took too much bashing.  I've met Derrick...had an engaging discussion with him.  He is a great young man.  An outstanding representative for Marquette.  For that reason alone, I am a BIG supporter of him.

94 points a game? Wow, I didn't realize we were going to have one of the highest scoring offenses in NCAA history. To give perspective, the highest scoring team last season was VMI with 88.3 ppg.

Itll be Todd or Deonte. Im leaning Todd due to the take over mentality so I think he is more likely to routinely "get his".

I really hope it isn't Carlino(from a positive standpoint). I feel Carlino is our 3rd leading scorer or so it means he's doing a great job at PG and distributing for Deonte and Todd.

It would also mean were pretty solid since he himself is probably  lock for 11-13 points per game so if two guys have more than him...me like.

Mayo 14
Deonte 12
Matt   9
Steve  8
Fisher  8
JJJ     5
Duane   5
Dawson   3
Juan   2
Derrick   2
That's only 68 ppg... and the reason I think next year will be a challenge!

FYI 94 could really mean around <85 team average. Fischer is only playing half the games and we will lose other players to injuries and when we cut down rotations.

I voted Deonte. I think the addition of Carlino takes away opportunites from Mayo and Carlino's passing ability may increase Burton's chances. Mayo seems to be the best with the ball in his hands, but Carlino will most likely be controlling the ball with Mayo playing off the ball.

I'll believe Mayo as the team leading scorer for an entire season when I see it.  He's been highly inconsistent his whole career, especially as a perimeter shooter.  He showed signs late this past season of becoming more consistent and I'd love to see him have a Wes Matthews type senior season, but I truly don't believe it's in him to get it together night in and night out.

For me, it came down to Burton and Carlino.  Burton is such a gifted scorer, but I voted Carlino, a senior, team leader, likely most of the minutes at PG will be his, double digit scorer every year at BYU.  Burton's time is coming however.  As Kevin O'Neill said in a broadcast, he'll never lead the team in assists.

I think Steve Taylor Jr. is a major sleeper for next year- out of the confines of Buzz's weirdness, he's a solid scorer around the basket and can score in different ways and is a pretty good shooter and FT shooter too.  Plus, he's one of only two true post players we've got next year.

All the ingredients for STJ to break out next year, I truly believe he's going to.  I can't believe he's got less votes than Duane Wilson right now.  Excited to see Duane finally play, but come on people (or the three that voted for him).
