He said those at Marquette were ready to announce Zo as the head coach today. He said he already had a story written and was just waiting for it to be announced before he posted it. He said he got the text late last night saying Zo was staying and was very surprised. According to him, the folks at Marquette thought they had Zo ready to sign the dotted line.

So much for the Marq told Martin they were going in a different direction theory.  Martin chose to return to a school where 35,000+ fans had signed a petition to fire him mid-season and whose boosters pulled their private planes for recruiting instead of going to Marq.  And your former coach took a pay-cut to go to another school.  Maybe the Big Least is in worse shape than people even imagined or something is up with Marq.

Whatever the reason, thank God. The guy had proven to be a terrible coach.

A source told Paint Touches that Wojociechowski completely blew away the Marquette brass in his interview Monday morning, and that his preparedness and enthusiasm pushed him ahead of Tennessee head coach Cuonzo Martin, who reportedly had interest in the job and also was contacted by Marquette — late Monday night CBS’s Gary Parrish reported Martin had taken himself out of consideration for the position.

Don't care.  Ready for Wojo.  Now maybe you can get a life and stop trolling on our board.

Wojo wasn't the top of my list but Martin was on the bottom of it.

If the Marquette brass was looking for a ra ra, enthusiasm guy, then Martin was definitely not their man.

I'm about done, although it's fun to troll another team's boards.  The SEC is full of trolls, especially during football season (football, you may have heard of it).

It seems to me like Wojo wanted the job and Cuonzo wasn't prepared....... oh wait.... Tennessee wasn't prepared for the 1st half against Michigan.  Now it all makes sense.

Wow. in 12 hours you went from touting Martin as a great coach and complimenting MU for pursuing him to insulting us and our conference. quite the 180. ignore.

This sounds exactly like the posts we saw 6 years ago about Buzz. Not saying it's untrue, but the blown away in the interview thing ... Hope it's true!

Not insulting your school at all.  Just stating facts.  I think Martin would have been a good hire for Marq and that he is a good coach (don't think I ever said "great").  I think if most of you were given truth serum you would prefer Martin over Wojo.  I wish Marq nothing but the best.

Instead of someone that has surrounded himself with success, we would rather have someone that had dedicated himself to mediocrity?

Yes..... Tennessee should be familiar with the SEC basement, since that's where their football team has been of late.  Make room next to the water heater for the basketball team!!!

I always assume NU means Northwestern. I was like, there was a mystery year that Northwestern won a natty?

Our football team has struggled lately (the SEC is pretty good in football in case you haven't heard), but I think we finally have the right coach to get it turned around in Butch Jones.  I also think our basketball team will be a lot better than most think next year (esp. if Stokes comes back).  I think Wojo could be a good coach, but you have to wonder why it has taken him 14 years to get a shot and how good of a recruiter he will be without Coach K and the Duke name behind him.

Our last national title in football or men's basketball was 1998.  When was your's?

Sorry buddy, nobody here cares about your football team. To be honest, nobody cares much about your basketball team either. 1 elite eight in the history of the program just ain't that impressive.
