Really surprised to see WOJO with more votes than Manning - Manning has all the "pedigree" WOJO has with head coaching experience (two years, in second year he tied for 1st in Conf USA and made it to the tourney) - plus he has professional playing experience (WOJO stayed right on the Duke bench after playing)

Guess I don't understand how NBA playing experience makes someone a better coach.  Of the top coaches in the game today, the only one I know with NBA time is Donovan...who played 1 season in New York.  Not coach K, not Self, not Calimari, Pitino.  I'm sure there a couple others who played a little, but I'd bet there are more top 20 coaches without NBA playing experience than with it.

Then I assume you didn't vote?

I voted (for Danny Manning if you are curious). This is a place where we can discus our opinions. But that doesn't mean that expect that the committee takes my feelings into account.

Hoiberg and Ollie are doing pretty well.

Like I said, I'm sure someone could come up with a few more.  Still, with Donovan, that makes three.  I think you'll find many more highly successful high D-1 coaches without NBA experience than with it....

I never said I expected them to take our feelings into account either.  I just pointed out that if we don't hire Howand, lots of people won't be happy with the choice.

Doesn't necessarily do anything for their coaching ability, but it does give them the exposure of what it might take to be successful at the next level, which is what alot of these kids want - probably helps with recruiting more than anything
