The one I would "like to see" won't happen.  TB.  Wanted him last time.

Aughnanure

The one that is going to win this poll is the one we won't be able to get.

So I'm going with Martin.

Of the realistic candidates listed I'll take Cuonzo. But that won't make me happy.

NavinRJohnson

I do admit LaVall Jordan is intriguing. Just not sure, but the guy has worked for both Bielein and Brad Stevens. That's pretty good company to keep.

Given that nobody but Howland excites me,might be worth a thought.

WadeATKBurton

Tony needs to be taken off. Hes not a realistic candidate

TheFarEastMovement

My first choice would be Archie Miller. If not, I would rather go with Dwayne Stephens. He is a former MU assistant, he recruits pretty well for MSU and he is from the Tom Izzo coaching tree. Tony Bennett being coach at MU is like watching Bo Ryan coaching at MU (it will be boring to watch).

Rockmic87

I'd say we consider Terry Porter.  It's a wild card, but I think a risk worth taking if our best option is hiring a current Assistant.

No college experience or recruiting connections.  Would be a total rebuild.

No thanks.

ChitownSpaceForRent

Anybody but Bennett. Hes good but he hasnt been anything spectacular except for this year. Plus I think I would fall asleep during games.

Daniel

Why do we think any still playing would come to MU?  We could not have gauged their interest by directly speaking with any still coaching in the Tourney.  Maybe agents talking to us?  I have no idea but this seems like a longer shot than Shaka.

Terry Porter has NBA coaching experience. Could surround himself with an elite staff.  Has his own AAU program (Terry Porter Elite), which Burton was apart of.

Dwayne Stephens and Lavall Jordan are assistants. I am sure a head coaching job at MU would be quite intriguing to them. Marquette is definitely a step up from Dayton, which could possibly lead to Archie Miller joining us. Cuonzo Martin was on the hot seat until he made the S16, which could prompt him to leave Tennessee as well. I agree Scott Drew and Tony Bennett coming to MU might be a long shot.

Look at it this way:

Johnny Dawkins - no longer playing
Either Cuonzo Martin or LaVall Jordan will be out by 9PM tonight.
Ben Howland is available.
Bruce Weber is currently available.
Archie Miller more than likely will be out by tomorrow night.

What's the point? By Monday morning we should be able to figure out who their guy is. If Howland or Bruce Weber or one of the guys who comes available by their team being eliminated doesn't emerge almost immediately after,  will be pretty safe to assume that the guy still playing is who it's going to be...or at least who they want it to be.

Fine if its true, I don't think he was a very likely candidate anyway, but when did he do that?

I am not sure if Archie said no to us but I believe he signed an extension with Dayton. In today's world of college ball, that does not mean anything. Steve Alford did the same thing last year with New Mexico but he ended up at UCLA.

brandx

Stephens and Martin both have relationships with Stone. That's a plus in their favor.

@SIPeteThamel Archie is a rising star. The guy didn't even listen to Marquette, either.

As opposed to Buzz's thrill-a-minute offense?

Wasnt a fan of this years offense but in years prior, especially in 2012 you had the patented, run own the court with Jae trailing for a 3. That was a lot of fun.

That tweet does not exist.
