No one holds a press conference about nothing - this is a smoke screen.  For example, blah blah blah time blah blah blah due diligence.  Just to throw off the scent.  IMO, but I don't know anything, which puts me in the same category as everyone else on this board.

The fact that Cords is on board as AD for another year is news in itself. Based on the paraphrasing on Paint Touches Twitter feed, he still seems supremely confident. No hint of hedging or anything like that.

Don't worry, there is absolutely NO news coming from this conference. Cords told the Associated Press on Monday he was staying until next spring http://bigstory.ap.org/article/ad-marquette-trying-move-quickly-new-coach

"Cords, who previously served as athletic director from 1987-2007, said he is staying on through next spring."

So I wouldn't read too much into it.

The harm is it makes them look inept in my opinion.  You don't hold a press conference to be redundant...unless your confused, uncertain and biding time?

This is in no way political, but Marquette needs to take a page from the White House's book on dealing with the press. Don't hold press conferences. Disseminate news you want people to have, say nothing when you don't want them to have it and don't hold press conferences unless it's a major story. This is not on Cords. Somebody in the SID office is living in the stone ages.
