We won't know for sure until it's officially a Done Deal, though.

It's Jeter. Time to put your PJs on.

We should should VCU Rams relatives to coach.  Our team would would at least run.
Might be a good idea. He's not great with OOB plays though. Huge weakness.

Piper.... Is it possible your source is trolling you?

The reason I ask is that - God's honest truth here - several senior people in the MU admin, individuals who one would expect would be made aware of news like this for strategic purposes no less, were not made aware of Lovell's hiring until they got to work this morning.

With the debacle that ensued on Monday, I find it incredulous that your source, with the standing he/she has, is a) actually in or on the fringe of the know and b) is brazen enough to be putting said standing at risk by leaking what he/she knows.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Interesting -  I'm more interested who gets fired after this whole debacle is finished then who actually gets hired as the next coach.

Maybe it was the old trick, threw the bone out there to see who is leaking info. Could be a bad day tomorrow for some!

Question for Richard Shaw...I think both you and goose mentioned we contacted Cuonzo today. Is it possible we contacted him saying "we regret to inform you that you have not been selected..."?

Martin seems to fit the profile of the mystery contact from a few days back for a guy fed up with an overbearing football program taking bball resources. if we hired someone already I doubt it would be a guy still coaching his team.

Richmond trolls... maybe the deal is Shaka will come if we secure Cuonzo as his assistant. Ever think of that.  ;)

a good trick, indeed.

Just my take, but it's pretty clear who it's not.  I want Shaka too, and I hope to God that Goose is right, but seems pretty clear that if Piper's source is correct, he's saying it's not Shaka.

IF Goose is right, and the Shaka race is not over, my theory is that the announcement tomorrow is to make it seem like we're ready to name somebody so that Shaka makes his decision one way or another so we can move on if necessary.

I've got it...

- MU tells BH they are interested but must announce the pres before committing to anything.  Asks for his "Patiece" and to respect the process.

- MU pushes the announcement of the pres up.  This was done for three reasons.  1.  To validate their response to BH.  2.  To buy time for negotiation with Shaka without making BH feel like a secondary option.  3.  To ease whatever concern Shaka (may have) had regarding the lack of permanent leadership.

- My guess (and hope) is that Shaka has until tomorrow afternoon to make up his mind.  As many of you have suggested, I feel the presser was scheduled as a place holder and a way to show Shaka that a firm deadline has been set.  If he decides to come to MU, the purpose of the presser will be changed.  If he turns down MU, the presser will be used to debunk the Shaka rumors and put the nonsense to bed.

Time will tell.  Patiece

Honestly I'm not doubting that it's possible.  I think in one of my comments I said that I'll either look very gullible to a liar or I'll have predicted it either way I only care I look bad to the two posters I actually know [that I know] on here.  I will say I'm hearing some interesting other rumblings.  But this guy had a good night at Caffrey's so it's not post worthy till tomorrow after the press conference at best.

If he actually respected it he would just do it for a couple weeks and actually let the leather become permanent.
