I'll say it again. If this is true, when the story breaks, there will be news from the VCU side first.  At least of a player meeting being called, etc.  

VCU and Richmond are not big places, someone will know if he hops a plane to MKE as well.

...But Wardle can't recruit Shaka's players. That is kind of the point. Bringing Shaka in is a lot bigger that getting a young guy that can coach.

Wardle isn't tested like smart has been, and isnt nearly as big of a recruiter.

We like Wardle, but we don't want him as a coach as it is a complete step down.

Could VCU's Shaka Smart be the next head coach at Marquette?  Some think it is likely, which is surprising considering Smart passed on openings at Illinois and UCLA among others.

The Golden Eagles have an opening because long-time coach Buzz Williams left for Virginia Tech.

Reached for comment SID Scott Day declined to comment saying, "we have no comment at this time."  Read that however you like, perhaps it says a lot.

We have been unable to reach Marquette for comment.
