Is he an a-hole now?  So it was Larry and Pilarz that drove him out?    I can't wait to see the spinning done here, especially by about 20 of you in particular.  Maybe finally the hypocrisy stops....March 21, 2014.  We'll see.

Here's a little stat

Rick Majerus 3 years
Bob Dukiet 3 years
Kevin O'Neill 5 years
Mike Deane 5 years
Tom Crean 9 years
Buzz Williams 6 years

Notice anything?

Are you implying Marquette is, and will be, a stepping stone?

Also, his players were shocked and surprised by the announcement. And, allegedly, the athletic department didn't know until after it happened.

I'm saying no one stays here very long, other than Crean.  Why is that?

I enjoyed watching people the last 6 years say how different he was going to be.  They're all the same, it is what it is.   Next man in and don't trust anything out of a coaches mouth....they're like politicians.

LOL, they knew it was going to happen (not exact time, though) and gave their unofficial blessing.

All ASSISTANTS looking to audition for their next job. HIRE an established coach who wants to frigging be here. I think Ben Howland will not be looking for a new gig a few years after he gets hired.

Couldn't wait for I told you so.  I hoped you would take the high road, forcing me to say you were right about Buzz.  Guess that's not in you.

I greatly look forward to you championing Buzz Williams virtues and accomplishments while at MU for the next 6 seasons...hopefully our next head coach exceeds Buzz's accomplishments, but you will still continue on a crusade to keep alive the memory and greatness of Buzz's 6 years, as you have done for Tom Crean.   ;D

I thought I'd dread this day, yet after seeing how Buzz handled this season....it really did make me question who he was as a coach, and as a person.  It was a great 6 year run, but it actually feels like it might be the best for both parties at this time to go seperate ways.

I predict the next coach will assure the fans that he will be at MU for a long time but then at some point won't be the coach anymore. So you can book it and I promise to remind you all of that every chance I get until eventually I'll be right.

Without a doubt. I am surprised it took him this long to say "I told you so." Predictable.

Somewhere, Chico and all his numerous name dropped contacts from various athletic departments across the country are having the best day of their lives. Or maybe it's just Chicos by himself.

Buzz was out of character all season long. Makes sense now that he decided long ago that this would be his last here.

Haha but wouldn't that be a gigantic waste of one's time? Especially for someone with a self-proclaimed really important job at a multibillion dollar company?

I will defend Buzz when necessary, against falsehoods.  That is the same I did for TC.  The issue I've always had with Buzz is the squirm factor and what I had come to know or heard.  For that, I took a lot of grief here.  Most of it was fine, but when I was told I wasn't an MU fan and a few other comments, that didn't sit well with me.  I'll admit it.

Read that he met with team this afternoon. Sorry, forget which article.

I was hoping you would take the high road and just finally admit it....two can play that game.  Sorry, but I've been bashed here for a number of years.  I'm curious to see who is going to step up finally and admit it.  You can be the first.  Tip of my hat to you if you do.

Believe me, today sucks.  Nothing I hate more than seeing coaches continue to come in and out every 5 or so years.  It says something....I'll let you guys decide.

There is a reason I have bagged on the Buzz schtick, the "I'll be here as long as MU will have me" (though it might come clearer this may be more truthful), so on and so forth.  The bummer is that I actually think he is a very good coach and have said it here many times.  He's an odd dude, always has been.  There were things from the very beginning on a few guys that didn't sit well with me (or others).  I brought them up here, felt more than squirmy about those things and basically got arse raped by some of the members (no pun intended) on this site.  Those were my concerns.  I loved a lot of things about him, too.  He's not an evil guy, but he wasn't Jesus Christ either.

Over the next month or so, I suspect you might hear some interesting things.  Time for the next guy in.  Wouldn't it be great to get a guy that wants to be here for the next 15 years?

buzz is a liar, and while he seems to be leaving in better fashion, i certainly won't be wishing him success.  something doesn't seem right here (virginia tech?), but i don't see how any of this could not make buzz a liar unless the big donors grew tired of him.

i'm not sure what the hypocrisy is that you refer to.  tc was a prick and left like a prick.  buzz talked about god and character all the time and lied...he's a prick as well.

just another coach to root against.  i've always appreciated the coaches that stay loyal to the their schools...it's a shame buzz couldn't be one of them.

Cam, I usually know when you are here because so often you are talking to me or about me.  No, not a happy day, certainly not the best day of my life.  Sad to see MU go through coaches on average every 5 years or so.

Now, it is human nature, however, that when you are questioned as a fan or allegiance because you dared to bring up the squirmy stuff up from the past....well, yes there is a bit of I told you so. I'm human, I admit it.  Nothing worse than being a huge fan, having some legitimate concerns about what you are a fan of and to be called out for a few years as a result.   To each their own.  No, this is a sad day on top of a sad season.

Blah blah blah

So why do you have to beat around the bush and not just say I told you so, or have an actual point. You've said in most every post in this thread "5 years..." Some coaches were not good, some OK, and some did some special things.  There's also been a large change in the business of basketball over the timeframe you list here.  Have a valid point, or stop implying that you are so smart.

Deane and Dukiet weren't assistants.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
