Dayton 60-tOSU 59.

Love that Aaron Craft missed the winning shot!

His man took him to the rim for the game winner too. Red faced jag off.

The Big East will need to grow to 12 teams - at least. This will all be driven by media market factors. St. Louis makes sense, and an east coast school makes sense. The problem is which east coast school.

Dayton, which has a great history going back to Tom Blackburn, has no chance because it is in the Cincinnati media market (Xavier), which is too bad given their history and fan support.

If Dayton has a solid few years leading up to the time the Big East is ready to expand, they are going to end up in.

I'll beat CBB to the punch and point out that Dayton has its own media market, much smaller than Cincinnati.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Why would 12 have to be a requirement? Grab SLU and call it a conference.

Conferences prefer even numbers for scheduling and tournament purposes.

Not great for scheduling. Don't want to push past 18 conf games.

Great game, glad to see the Flyers win.  Can't stand OSU.

Siena is in Albany which is 58th biggest TV market right after #57 Richmond, VA & before #64 Dayton, OH.

NYC has Fordham, Manhattan, Iona, Wagner, Hofstra (out in Long Island) & LIU-Brooklyn which as the distinction of being across the street from The Barclay's Center.  I agree that none stand out.
Fordham would have to play somewhere besides the Rose Hill Gym.  I remeber leaning against a wall coutside to watch them play Marquette sometime back in 1993-ish as there was no place to sit.

Boston U. has Boston going for it and losing to Illinois in the NIT last night.

Said the Big Ten for 21 years  ::)
“All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” - T.E. Lawrence

For all this talk about Dayton being its own media market or not expanding the geographical footprint of the Big East, keep in mind one thing....

FOX SPORTS 1 is a NATIONAL sports channel.  Unlike the Big Ten Network or the Longhorn Network, FS1 has content that is going to play and be demanded everywhere in the country.  So as long as there's a relationship between the Big East and FS1, whether Dayton "adds" anything to the media market discussion is not all that relevant.  The entire country is already FS1's market, so they're not concerned about where the Big East has coverage, their concern is more with the Big East being able to provide quality programming.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Not for beating Ohio State. Hate them. I mentioned last year Dayton would be a good fit for our conference. For
once I was right.

You sure youre a Marquette fan? When I go to the BC tonight will I see you there decked out in Badger red?

4everwarriors

No one want to give credit to any other program. ND sucks, DePaul sucks, UW sucks, SLU sucks. JC, put a little balance in your life and learn to appreciate what it takes to be accomplished. Truth be told, we sucked major ass this season.

I think most of the hostility towards Dayton comes form some of the Flyer fans that came on this board last fall and dumped on MU and the NBE for being arrogant and so on, including the moderator of the main Flyers fan site.

And, of course, the message board fan base is such a terrific representation of the overall fan base...

There are some here that want Buzz on the hot seat... ::)
