Anyone else psyched to fill out their NIT brackets???
« on: March 16, 2014, 03:51:22 PM »
I'm hoping we have a 1st round match-up against St. Bonaventure at the Al that is sure to draw 1,000 fans and play on ESPN 25 at midnight PST through regional networks in Wisconsin and North Dakota willing to pay the nominal pay-for-view fee.

And since our board loves and pushes for all catholic conference members this could be a try-out for the Bonnies to take another prestigious spot and boost the national following of our conference as they would clearly be a much better choice than any potential public school with a rich basketball history that either has no football and/or could park their football elsewhere to focus on the sport they are known for and makes them money and benefits the conference as a whole.

Those of you worried how we'll possibly replace Jake Thomas next year I'm told there is a freshman at Marquette named Tommy Smith (see attached picture) who has been tearing up the Rec Center recreational level intramural leagues with 4 points a game and 2 rebounds.  I'm told that he will for sure get a spot on the team next year and most likely a starting role as he plays "great defense".   Well not really great defense but Buzz Williams' version of "great defense" 2013-2014 through his unique defense only vision he told us about after benching Deonte Burton the last 10 minutes against Xavier.  This version of "great defense" allows a horrible DePaul team to score 82 points in regulation and shoot 14/29 from 3 point range where most of them were uncontested.  However even though you have better players on the bench who could give the team a huge boost both offensively and defensively in comparison to these "shut-down" defensive players they stay on the bench, rot and eventually transfer.  Hence were Tommy Smith the 2014-2015 savior comes in!  Go Tommy!

Don't worry that we are in the great recession and you make $2.5MM/year while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet Buzz.  You are the emperor and have no obligation to win games by playing our best players and make NCAA tournaments.  Go ahead and experiment and blow seasons as this board is full of believers that no matter how bad we look Buzz knows what he is doing and winning streaks will come......and as a last resort we'll win the conference tournament and get in that way!!!!

Well I'm personally glad we never got going this year as I love the prestige of the NIT tournament even though I doubt Diamond Stone and other blue chip recruits do.  Can't wait for the CBS Selection Sunday show to end so I can then focus on who Marquette gets to play in the real tournament!!!!!!

I'm surprised to read that you are struggling to make ends meet, given the level of cleverness, creativity, and intelligence on display in your post. I would think any company in America would be trilled to hand you a big fat check every month.

Hopefully nobody gets too offended to find this pretty funny like I did.

One one tangent, I wish there were actually another suitable school in the northeast to take into the conference.  I think we saw this week the importance of presence there.  Seems like the options there are limited...St. Joe's?  BU?  Not really on the shortlist.

Navin I recommend you stop posting for awhile as you've embarrassed yourself enough already this year with how many times you've been proven wrong time after time.

Good news the selection show is on after the Women's brackets are announced on Fox Sports 77.  FS1 was busy showing roller derby.  Actually I remember the days when the 64 (68) team selection was exciting.  Now I just want the hour to be over!

I have to admit that this made me laugh.

But I think you seriously underestimate the value of floor-spacing.  IMO Jake was not the reason for such a dismal season.

Navin's a solid poster. Can't think of any post he has made that could remotely be considered embarrassing.

When you're the Sultan of Silly the recession is never over!
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Does the Sultan wear an egg over his eye these days, or does his veil hide it?
