Not even praying will help.

Just watched the match - really impressive outing. I guess they deserved to be in the field after all.

Do upsets ever happen in college volleyball? Maybe tomorrow will be the day for a big one!

Not that big.

There are levels to women's college volleyball, even more so than college football. There are teams in the top 10 that have absolutely no chance to beat one of the top 4 teams, and that's the same every year. There's usually about 3-5 teams that can win it all, and any team outside of those has almost no chance of beating any of those 3-5, let alone having to beat 2 or 3 of them to win it all. It'd be interesting to see how often a non-1 seed wins it all. I'd guess well under 10% of the time.

Louisville is outside of that group this year, but they're the tier below it and Marquette is a couple tiers below that.

take Creighton for example. Hovering around top 10 for years now and haven't really ever come close to beating Nebraska in a match.

It's like St. Thomas vs UConn, really

Exciting match, they definitely gave themselves a chance.

Ring is a monster and will be hard to replace. Haggard is really good. She could probably transfer up a level if she wanted to.

Haggard in the portal...only to have MU announce they signed the U19 Brazilian national team setter.  She looks very good.

Kentucky probably saw how well she did and reached out.

I was really impressed with Parks during the tourney. She's got serious potential to be a mainstay up front. Hopefully, she stays around and adds some strength and power.

Ring redshirted a year so she should have another year, or is she portaling?

Hattie Bray will be hard to replace on the court and in the locker room.

I meant Haggard could probably transfer up a level.  Ring is done.

That's why I mentioned Kentucky probably having seen her (previous response, I should have consolidated them). Unfortunately, MU and the Big East are a "feeder" for the major programs.

Ring's bio on the MU site has her listed as a junior. Is she going pro?

Your link is showing her listed as a Senior when I open it, which is what I saw when I went to Marquette's roster as well.  It also lists Honors and Awards for the 22-23 season (or I guess school year, since the volleyball season all falls into 2022 for that year), 23-24 season, 24-25 season, and 25-26 season (with this not being updated yet, but listing Preseason All Big East).  I'm pretty sure she has played 4 seasons at Marquette.

I believe she was drafted in one of the USA professional volleyball leagues, but I don't know eligibility for draft status or which league it was.

well, we'll see. It would be nice if she was back for another year. Bray was drafted into one of the pro leagues: https://marquettewire.org/4146777/sports/middle-blocker-hattie-bray-drafted-no-25-overall-by-grand-rapids-rise/

Nice thought it was Ring that got drafted. But this article by Marquette makes it pretty clear Ring was also a senior.
