Well, based on his quote, the director sounds like he loved the conference...

“Having grown up on the East Coast, I’ve spent most of my life as a dedicated fan of the Big East and I, like so many others, was saddened by its split last year,” said director Ezra Edelman. “In setting out to make a film about the league, I hoped to not simply tell a story about the rise of a great basketball conference but also understand and ultimately convey the causes of its fall. “

Doesnt sound very promising for a positive spin on the current Big East...

I'm guessing 75% will be about the 80's and the rest about the contract and break-up.

I don't.  Hated getting smoked by them 90% of the time, and giving up 17 point leads.

We struggled against UL during the BE years (3-9), but did pretty well during the final few years in C-USA (6-1 in the final three seasons).  Overall, I think we held our own pretty well against a great program.

That's all well and good, but you can't ignore the reason behind why the Big East said no.  Pitt and Syracuse rallied teams to shoot it down, while working with ESPN and the ACC to upgrade that conference.  Essentially, ESPN threw a FU offer out that in the hopes they could get Big East at a discount with the ultimate goal of locking down the ACC with a big contract to avoid them spinning off into another Big Ten network type.  If Big East accept they got a discount, if they turned it down that sowed the seeds of the mega-ACC by poaching the "best" from the Big East.  It's shrewd tactics and negotiation but they also can't act as if they are an innocent bystander casually documenting history without bias

Not totally, but a good chunk of this is true.  Pitt is and always will be the sleeze in this thing.

The unethical behavior of Pitt's president Nord(en)berg is the problem. He headed the ESPN negotiating team for the BIG EAST while at the same time talking to the ACC about joining. Breach if fiduciary duty at a minimum.

A lot of wins over Lville were at the end of Crum, beginning of Pitino which I believe it is safe to say were not the most talented teams at UL.

Live by the network, die by the network.

We are in a much better spot financially with FS1 but it sucks not ever being featured by ESPN anymore.
Non-conference road games and holiday tourneys,  the Big East is on ESPN. Four times this season for MU.
