1. Where has STJ been? I hope he's healed, because he looked great. Both his effort and scoring touch were there. He plays surprisingly well with Davante.
2. Jamil was 200% more successful and had better outcomes when he drove to the hoop. I'm glad he took shots at the end of the game/late in the shot clock - shows he wants it.
3. Dawson - As I said, I'm on board. Let the kid play 25+. I really want Dawson/Derrick offense/defense subs. I LOVED Dawson with no hesitation at the end of regulation/in OT.
4. Davante kept his head in the game tonight even when not scoring in the second half.
5. Burton with two "eh" games in a row. Needs to get going early in the games.
6. Jake is our best all-around player. He does the little things - like ball faking a pass in OT to get the ball to Gardner. Also, am I the only one comfortable with him shooting from 5ft behind the 3pt line?
7. I liked the team mentality in the second half. When we got down, we could have packed it in.
8. The refs didn't have the greatest game on either side. That being said, what happened to the rules emphasis that we've seen in other games?
9. I really think our best overall lineup is Dawson-Jake-Player X-Player Y-Gardner.  Player X is whoever has the hot hand between Jamil/Burton/Mayo. Player Y is whoever has the hot hand (or is left from X) between STJ/Burton/Jamil.

Edit: 10. Does anyone have any input on how GTown's choice to run a zone defense for most of the night impacted Buzz's decision on playing time? I don't know if it did. But I do realize it could have been one variable. And that's not to discount any of those changes.

That is a season saving win.  Without it, MU is done.  With it, the team still can make that run.

Strangely enough....I think his shot actually looks better from that distance.

My main takeaway is that I enjoyed watching Marquette play tonight for most of the game.  Something that hasn't happened much this season.

A win makes remembering how much we enjoyed the game much easier.

Very fun win to watch. Had me up jumping around my living room

Guys - this was clearly Buzz's plan to bring Dawson into the fold all along... on the road against a hard-nosed team in a must win. Created a big chip on his shoulder by playing a decidedly average Derrick over him, including starting him this game. Then subbed him for the first time tonight and whispered in his ear "This is your court. Go own it"

I may have missed this, but Duane Wilson dresses for the games? Does he participate in the shoot around before the game?

Yea, hes been dressing for awhile now. Probable as an incase of emergency type of guy. So long as he doesnt play he still gets his red-shirt. It doesnt matter what else he does.

Fans are funny....many examples here, but some good ones on the G'Town board.

A few:

"I like these refs" (first half)
"These refs suck" (first half)
"These refs are killing us" (second half)
"Is it just me or does Mikael miss a dunk a game? Ugh...."
"This team is so flawed. And yet we're ahead somehow. "
"Finally some home cooking"  (late second half)
"We just blew a 7 point lead with under 3 minutes to a team that is really bad. Unreal. Absolutely unreal"
"I would say we should turn down the NIT invite, but I'm not sure its coming."
"From 3-1 to 3-15? I can only see 2 good chances for wins with this mess."
"When was the last time a Georgetown team has been this bad? "
"We lost because they were the better team and we were outmatched. "
"It really hurts to say, but yes, I can't wait until they graduate. Hopkins, bless the kid, is just not worth the pain. for every decent play there are just backbreaking misses that are inexplicable."  (sounds like some MU fans)

Key to the game was MU's play against the zone.  Great targeting of the free throw line.  Taylor came out of nowhere and was a huge plus.  He was a fifth option.

I will also admit that Dawson looked very good in the second half.  I would like to see him do this in another game.

Hard to argue, JesMU.
1.  Contributions from everybody.
2.   Staying aggressive on offense.
3.  Welcome, Mr. Dawson.   May this be a harbinger and not an outlier.
4.  I had almost forgotten how good a healthy STjr could be, particularly working high/low in the zone.
5.  Making FT's makes a difference.
6.  MU was still slower to the floor on most loose balls than Georgetown.
7.  Todd Mayo, way to stay in the game even when you weren't scoring a lot.   May have been the season saving shot.
8.  Loved watching the replay of Dawson's 3 pt shot in OT with Deonte over his shoulder mimicking him.
9.  For a supposedly really smart, uber-talented senior, Jamil still makes ridiculously poor decisions sometimes.
10.  I haven't given up on the dream.  13-5

Perhaps, season preserving? We still have a ways to go but I agree - we lose and it's over. I am pleased to see Buzz demonstrate some audacity.

Did anyone notice DG double teaming the GT guards at the top of the key while leaving his man wide open at the basket for easy buckets in the last 3 minutes.  Is double teaming the opponents quick guards with the slowest player on the floor while leaving his man wide open at the backboard for easy baskets the dumbest defensive strategy in the history of basketball.  Great coaching Buzz???

11.  Ball movement is a beautiful thing.

Answer to your number 10, I think the zone was why Dawson over Derrick.  Biggest concern with Dawson is that he thus far he seems to be turnover prone.  Less of an issue against a zone.  Biggest issue with Derrick is lack of a shot.  Bigger issue against a zone.

Yes, preserving is the better word choice.

Interesting observation.  Let's see if Buzz allocates PG playing time based on defenses.  Obviously hard to do against teams that switch a lot...but maybe possible against a mostly zone or mostly man to man team.

Would give us some nice options.

A couplepoor decisions to be sure, but I thought Jamil played a very good game last night. In fact I would suggest his ability to play 44 minutes was critical to their success, and particularly critical to Buzz's ability to keep Dawson on the floor as much as he did.

Yes, that was dumb, good way to give up easy basket.

They have done this consistently for a long time. They get burned on it sometimes, but it is certainly not anything new.

The two GT guards were killing us last night, and it seemed to slow them down.  They did a variation of this very succesfully in last year's Sweet 16 against Miami and Shane Larkin.  Both then and last night, the opposition did not seem to have the ability to take advantage consistently. If that's bad coaching as implied, I'll take bad coaching.
