Except MU was young, unranked, and didn't look to have a fighting chance going into the game. Not even a comparable situation.

Yep.  UConn was ranked #2 going into that game, and we were starting 3 freshmen.  We weren't even supposed to be close, and we blew them away in a game that was over just after halftime.

Creighton could manhandle us tomorrow...and it still wouldn't compare to our huge upset of UConn that night.

Been looking forward to this game for a long time. The name of the game will be pace. If it turns out to be a track meet Marquette will not be able to keep up but Creighton has to slow the possession down like against George Washington then it might be Marquette's game to take. Creighton will be favored by probably 6-7 and it will be the most electric that place has ever been. Should be a great game though.

I admit it, I fear we could be in a world of hurt, especially if your boys are hitting their 3s and our lads aren't.

Given that Creighton is the league leader in 3-point shooting by a wide margin (.437) and we're bringing up the rear (.311), this would seem a legitimate fear.

I'm a Marquette grad, but I was born and raised as a Creighton fan. When push comes to shove, as much as I love Marquette, I will be in blue on Tuesday night. Looking forward to a fun rivalry between two like-minded schools and a couple of great fan bases.

I'm sorry there's no playful banter icon.  Lighten up.

Always appreciate playful banter.  Your "lighten up" advice can apply to a lot of posters this season!

Having said that, so long as JW suits up we'll be OK. Expect a close game and I hope your big crowd doesn't sway the officials. This team is DUE!

I like Creighton too.  Glad they are in the Big East.  But stop being an pretty boy. Creighton hasn't done anything to deserve the benefit of the doubt in conference play. it's not as easy as just showing up.

Well the fact that they beat ASU bad and we lost to them is one thing, the fact that they lost to SDSU by less than we did also counts.  Though they did drop a big steamer against GW.  Just saying they've done some things better than us.

MUScoop etiquette:  please use "Lighten up Francis".

Thanks.

Best of Luck, except against MU.

Sorry about what's going to happen Tuesday  8-) but I wanted to say thanks for all MU's support over the last year, both from the fanbase and from the administration.

Without that support you might be playing Dayton in 48 hours, which would have really sucked for both of us.

So, thanks, and hopefully this is the kickoff to a great new rivalry!

No need to apologize it'll be Creighton's first Big East game and first game jitters should be expected.  I'm sure you'll give us a much better game the second time we play.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Glad to have you guys, along with Butler and X, in the league. You 3 were the obvious choices.

The 11th and 12th teams are a little trickier.

My hope for you guys is that you consistently make the tournament and help keep us at a 5 bid league.

I'm very glad we have Creighton.  The have a rabid fan base, similar academic profile, and seem willing to put resources into athletics, especially basketball.

Wait, you graduated from Marquette and are cheering for Creighton? Seriously? I was born and raised an Indiana fan. Still vaguely rooted for them until the Bronze Beast arrived in Bloomington. But against Marquette? Never. Ever. That, sir, is traitorous and should not, cannot and will not be forgiven.

I watched Creighton beat the crap out of Chicago State last night.  We're doomed.

Yep, this guy has priorities out of order...you can't root against your alma mater unless you have more than one.  Twenty lashes with a wet noodle for this traitor.   ;)

Yeah tough to believe.  I graduated from MU and about to graduate from Creighton as we'll and it's not even a question what colors I will be wearing tomorrow.

Wait I have lots of alma-maters and don't root for any of them.  Been an MU fan since birth and staying that way.  His problem isn't rooting against his alma mater, it is simply rooting against MU.

Can any Creighton fans on the board please enlighten MU fans in regards to Coach McDermott's disposition towards Diet Pepsi?

It's a Crean Joke. Really has nothing to do with Creighton. We have lots of inside jokes here, it's generally easier just to let it go...
