is that every year we have the exact same chance of winning the BCS national championship that Bucky does.

Today validated why college football is king. As a Michigan grad I was sorry to see us lose but what a great football game. Nothing in sports compares with Fall Saturday afternoons in Ann Arbor. Nothing.

Some great games today.  I can't remember a day where there were so many rivalry games decided on last plays.  The Bama-Auburn finish was just epic.

Any college football Saturday at an SEC school.

Some great games yesterday...but nothing compares to the first Thursday and Friday of the NCAA Tournament.  Nothing.  Take the OSU-Michigan game...and multiply it by a bunch....

Actually, this is the best thing about not having college football. Stats are for the NFL but I can't imagine college football is that different.

That's what makes it a great television sport, not so great to be at.  Too much downtime.

Love it - "loitering on the field."

Nope. I went to an Auburn game a few years back, and I don't think it held a candle to UM's atmosphere.

If only the first and second round matchups could get people to attend those games...

College football, like NFL football, is too boring for me to watch. Way too slow-paced, too many interruptions, must be about 35% commercials and 50% replays for 11 minutes of action in a 3-hour stretch. First weekend of the NCAAs is the best for me on an annual basis, the World Cup is the best overall. In my opinion, nothing that happens 6-8 times per year can compare with something you wait 4 years for.

Agree about the slow pace, and agree with Chicos that it is worse when you are there (never been to an SEC game, but lots of B1G -WI, NU, MI and MI St - and ND (don't tell Chili)).  Especially when it is raining or cold.  Totally blows.  Most of the fun is in the traditions and tailgating before the game.

But...those two games yesterday were outstanding, with thrilling finishes.

There is a difference in intensity and emotion when you are an alum or a die hard fan. You notice the rain and cold when you are just a spectator.

Lots of Michiganders didn't go to school at Michigan but live and die with Wolverine football. The state of Nebraska shuts down on football Saturdays. And there is a huge difference being in the stands than watching on the tube. The crowd is merely frenzied for MSU-UM; the intensity doubles when we play Ohio.

It all depends on what the individual likes. Some people love it, and I've no problem with that. Football at any level just isn't my cup of tea. Good highlight finishes yesterday, but I can always find something I'd rather do than sit through a full game, whether on TV or live.

That said...I agree with the OP! While I may not be a college football fan, I admit I did smile when the score of yesterday's game popped up on Fox Sports Live this morning.

What's the Stat? The average football game consists of 17 minutes of action? I believe I just read that somewhere

Makes sense. I don't live and die with any sporting event like I do with MU bBall.

Yesterday's Michigan-Ohio finish compared with the last minute of MU-Davidson is a toss-up. Both were stupendous events.

On average it's a little less than 11 minutes per game.

One persons opinion I guess.  But I would take watching Duke-Kentucky and that fabulous finish with Laetnner(sp) over watching say the Flutie miracle any day of the week.  An MU bball game against a non-rival like Butler is 10x more exciting to me that ANY BIG(10) football game.  I watched Michigan v OSU yesterday.  I fell asleep...(no joke)

Lets see, punt or FG followed by 5 minutes of commercial, Touchdown for whomever commerical.  Football is great in the NFL.  1 and done in the playoffs.(this format cannot be beat)  Until college football has a playoff I call it fake.  There has NEVER really been a legit national Champion.  Maybe when they get to a playoff system it will get better.  As for now.  Id rather watch Gonzaga vs Florida than any College football game.  They are all literally exhibition games at this point...
