Mike Deane Era?
« on: November 25, 2013, 10:19:22 PM »
Sometimes I swear I am watching a team from the mid-90's, a half-step slow, inconsistent shooting, and no real athletes.  Then Marquette plays a decent second-half, and I have a bit of hope for the season.

Honestly, I am not sure what to make of this team?

You had to be thinking "Mike Deane Team" after that first half.  I was going to break out my Nirvana disc.

You're a tool bag that has less than a rudimentary understanding of college basketball.

fred, just stfu.

We lose by 2 when the PG we were all worried about has a break-out game and JT was forced to play way more minutes than anticipated because of the Mayo injury and played them well.  On top of that, JJJ was a solid contributor in his 5th game as a collegiate player.

I, for one, am now looking forward to the Wooden.

Seriously, juliet sierra tango foxtrot, to start a response?  Dang.

Like I said, I have some hope.  But to say the past three games have been less than brutal is a lie.

Deane had a rough last season, but he also routinely beat teams that were much more talented than MU and was a great in-game coach. He won 100 games quicker than any MU coach (although did Buzz catch him on that???) and he had a lot of big wins. He had his drawbacks for sure, and got relieved of his coaching duties. Plus, he could close down Turners after the game with the best of them.

So Mike Deane is Jerry Wainwright?

Hards any time you want to play let me know. I'll even spot you five points and will still beat you by five. Talk is cheap my friend. Tell me the time and place and I'll be there and show you how much I know about the game.

Yeah that is what I thought.  I'm old and I suck at basketball.  I still know how it is played.

Honestly, I am not sure what to make of this team?

  1. "a half-step slow"     Really?  Then how slow is Ohio State on offense?

  2. "inconsistent shooting"  You're right there.

  3. "no real athletes"  That makes no real sense.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Every player on our bench tonight is a better athlete than anyone on Deane's last team. (Flood may be the exception) This team may not be what you wanted or expected, but they are nothing like the Deane teams.

I disagree with your opinions on basketball.

Do we have to play 1 on 1 to validate that you are wrong?
