Game Promotions - No bobblehead
« on: October 11, 2007, 09:22:57 PM »
Promos were finally put on the MU website .. The standard Magnet, Poster, and Trading Cards took up many slots.

A few new ones, though.  No images on any of these.

1. T-Shirt .. sponsored by Baird.
2. Final Four Replica Ring (Pitt game)
3. Wade Youth Jersey (8th grade or under)
4. MU Hat - (Gtown - National MU Day)

Surprised there's no bobblehead.  First year without one in several years.

There's no shortage of people who they could honor -- Bo, Butch, McGuire, Raymonds, Kojis...any many more.

I'd actually like to see them come up with something different...nesting dolls for instance!

How about voodoo dolls of our favorite muscoop posters?

Basically three giveaways... a little skimpy this year?

Are you counting the replica ring among the three?

I wouldn't be shocked if they add more promos as the season gets closer. Maybe the're still on the drawing board with some...

Is it too much to ask for a Bluteaux Bobblehead with real blue hair, ala the Turnbow bobble from last year?

Final Four ring will be '03, I believe, as it is the 5th anniversary of that run (can you believe it!)....

I would pay top dollar for a Bleuteaux bobble...alas, I think we'd see the bird (again) first.

Unless your the youngest Warrior fan, and you're in 8th grade, I don't think you have a chance at getting  Dwyane Wade youth jersey. :-*

Really? My point was to question considering a replica ring to be a "promotional" item. With all these high point season ticket holders getting such a high priority these days, who do they think that appeals to?

I'm really surprised that TC would do a 2003 ring, he seems too modest to remind everyone that he went to the Final Four 5 years ago.

I can't wait 'til next year...replica NIT Elite 8 rings!

Over under on the Final Four ring: Higher or lower quality than a Cracker Jack Ring?

Over under on the Final Four Ring:  Made in China and recalled for lead paint or not?

.. Anyhow, I can't wait to stroll into work wearing my new bling FF replica ring.  Sure hope it fits .. or will they provide a certificate for a jeweler to resize it for me?

The ring will either be an actual ring, with like a ratchet, zip-tie like system to adjust.

Or it will be a piece of cardboard that interlocks together to make a desktop size replica of the ring.

I stumbled across some pictures of the aforementioned Final Four ring that was ridiculed a month ago.  I don't know if the ridicule will continue but it is quite different from anything I (or seemingly others) had pictured.

http://gomarquette.cstv.com/tickets/m-baskbl-main.html It's down in the Promotions/Giveaways section (duh).

That's pretty cool.  I'm bummed I can't wear it though.  I was hoping to pick up chicks saying I was the walk-on that didn't get much playing time, and yeah, I was taller back then.

Marquette has done a fantastic job on promotion items over the last few years, but I have to say that is the lamest thing I have ever seen. Wow.

I dunno... I actually kind of like it.

Look at it this way:

It's really not lamer than a bobblehead. I know some people here think it is (a matter of opinion I guess), but bobbleheads by nature are pretty lame.

With that said, I have to say I have all of the MU bobbleheads (makes me a dork)... but I'm not one of the psycho people trying to get 3 or 4 of them in every color available.

Upon reading this aloud, my Steve Novak, Travis Diener, Earl Tatum and Mo Lucas bobbleheads have stopped nodding.

Yeah, I guess it is a matter of opinion.  As lame as some people might think bobbleheads are at least they're a bit more mainstream and, I think, accepted than a giant Schwartz ring. (And they're probably worth more)  It may have been cooler if it was smaller but that thing just screams "I see your scwartz is as big as mine"

On the doors of the AL they have a poster for the UWM game.  The t-shirt giveaway looks pretty nice.  I like it better than the fanatics shirts.

It has Marquette across the top in a font similar to the one on the basketball court.  Then underneath it there is a basketball that looks like the one the Big East uses what they put a basketball by their logo.  I'll try to get a picture of it.
