I see MU Scoop headquarters got 4-6 inches of rain.  How soggy is the Rocky household?

Just Mrs. 4ever.

Since Rocky lives on the mountain top, I'm sure he's high and dry!

Our office in Henderson closed down early yesterday, with plans to be closed today too.  Ended up opening up today at 8 sharp today.

Yikes .. Rocky hasn't signed in for 3 days now.

Ah, I was traveling for 2 weeks, and had barely any internet access the last week.  So, I missed most of the flooding.  My abode is above the 200yr flood plain (and as I found out, apparently above the 500 year flood plain as well) so no problems.  Though town is still a mess, only one north-south street open (yesterday around 5pm) the rest still cut off by our river, but that's at risk of closing again if we get another storm this afternoon.

So all is well, I have plenty of scoop to catch up on and liquor to keep me busy.

For the firefighters among us, a video of some of our boys driving down one of the streets next to the river.  Don't know why they did it, seems pretty dumb, but made for a fun video!

We had similar situations here during the flooding in 2010. I was going through the Academy at the time, but heard plenty of stories once I came into the field. There were intersections our rigs simply couldn't get through, and one friend of mine nearly walked into a manhole because the cover dislodged and he couldn't see it under the 2 feet of water. Really dangerous stuff.

Well, those rigs are only like $800k (and more) a piece, so .. easily replaced.

Agree on it being pretty dumb, but the best part is when they are driving into the current and are using the windshield wipers.  I don't think there is a raging flood setting for those.

That is pretty macho.   I wonder if the command staff told them to do that or if they went cowboy.  We had our '100-year-flood' this spring.   We don't have the elevation changes so we didn't have anything like that.   We just had neophyte kayakers who saw unprecedented flooding as an opportunity.   Yeah, we had to rescue about a dozen of them.
Fire trucks can go many places.   Gone through 3 ft snow drifts.   Awfully lonely feeling during ice storms when the back end starts to pass the front end.

And for those counting, that's the street that Left Hand Brewery is located on (6 blocks from my house, but WAY down the hill), so stock up on Nitro Mile Stout...production will be slowed for quite a while.

We had our '100-year-flood' this spring.

Crazy stuff here, I've heard it referred to as a 500 year flood (they had just upgrade all our water flow to theoretically reduce the hazard of a 100 year flood...we blew through that).  But read an interesting article on weather underground this morning that said the 12" of rain that the mountains received in Sept so far is a 1 in 1000 year event.  So a 1000 year flood?  Maybe.  Certainly the 4 hours of rain we've already had today isn't helping.

As for the fire truck video, I doubt that route was based on a request.  I mean, I don't doubt they were out looking for people that needed help in the flooded area, but we had boats and helicopters already working on that.  Nonetheless, they've been busy keeping people safe, and things running, so I'll cut them some slack.
