Offer yesterday and make his final six?

Has a nice jumper.  Motion reminds me of Rashard Lewis/Ray Allen.  Quick release.  Looks more like a shooter than a guy that takes it to the rim ala Nostkowiak.

That video was from last year I believe.  This one is from a few weeks ago:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5Oc21j98iw

From a few clips in the last vid, he gets up from a defensive stance quite a bit.  Might be telling, but could have been dead tired.  Still recovered and made the block.

From what I've read, he's a late bloomer. Great shooter and a solid scorer, the rest of his game could use some work. Athletic enough to make the improvements.

4 Stars are meaningless.

Davante is a better player than every 4-star (Scouts) from 2010 except Georgiu Dieng.

You'd be happy with Evan Anderson from UW - I preferGardner

willie...let's review.

You get bashed not because you want Buzz to recruit highly rated bigs.  Everyone wants that.

You get bashed because you use phrases like "inexcusable," when there are plenty of legitimate excuses and you offer no solution as to what Buzz can do about it.

Thanks for making my point--"there are plenty of legitimate excuses"---and that is what some people say. Excuses, excuses. There comes a time when continuing to offer the excuses does not wash. You can be patient and wait until we land somebody like Stone, and then you can say "nananana, I told you so". Maybe I just like to set expectations higher, by wanting one sooner rather than later. I believe that a stud big, with the current talent coming in is all we need to get to the Final Four.

A 4 star bigmen would be nice. However, Buzz won starting Butler 6-7, Hayward 6-6, DJO 6-3, Culliban 6-0 and Acker 5-9. He seems to be signing much bigger guards now, so the team can more easily survive with a big center.

Nobody disagrees with your sentiment that MU fans should want Stone or any highly-rated big.  Not one single poster would say otherwise.

But I have no idea what you mean by "continuing to offer the excuses does not wash."  Huh?  As a fan I can clearly see why Buzz and MU have limitations.  Perhaps Buzz will overcome those and land someone, but if he doesn't I'm not going to advocate for his dismissal.  I don't know why you get so wigged out when someone points them out though.

I don't get it. You say there comes a time when excuses can't be offered anymore...sooooooo now what? Do we fire Buzz? Hire new assistants? You write these hard words and aren't willing to say what you would do differently besides recruit harder? Do you think Buzz sits around all day?

I would hate to be your kid in high school taking a really hard class, studying hard, getting tutored and still not getting that A you expect. You would just scream no excuses without providing any guidance.

1.  You make Terror's point.

2.  Here's your "argument"
     a)  with a stud big, MU can make the Final Four
     b)  therefore, Buzz needs to recruit a stud big  (people are with you so far)
     c)  willie feels that "continuing to offer the excuses does not wash" for Buzz's recruiting failure
     d)  but hey, willie isn't saying that Buzz should be fired for this "inexcusable failure"  (a real disconnect here)
     e)  willie is frustrated, and willie is going to make sure everyone knows about that  (willie is starting to sound like a spoiled six year old there)

Perhaps a possible action plan would be for willie to hold his breath until he turns blue.  Please.

I'm truly curious what the staff is not doing that you feel they should be doing. And sorry, but the answer of "landing a stud big" isn't acceptable. What further attention can they give, what more work can they do, and where are their shortcomings? Is the answer to pursue kids longer? Buzz has clearly pulled out of races for guys like McGary, Tokoto, and Looney when it was evident we were out of the running. Should he keep giving them attention in hopes they come back around? Do we need to start greasing more palms? Maybe we would have landed the likes of Quincy Miller or Anthony Bennett if we'd have went dirty (not saying those were dirty, but they were definitely questionable).

willie, when I read your posts, I read them in the voice of Dana Carvey's Grumpy Old Man. Complaining about everything while not providing any solutions. You're only happy when you are complaining. If Buzz lands Turner, Okonoboh, Stone, or Ellenson, will you finally be satisfied? My guess is you'll more likely just find something new to complain about.

No dice, Skink. You are the excuse maker--not me. I like Buzz's recruiting, except for the fact that he keeps offering guards when the obvious need is bigs. Your action plan is the real disconnect. Now as for your using that I would not fire Buzz, I would not. But your bait and switch is to try to get me to say we should fire him, so then you could use your action plan of trying to crucify me. I will be disappointed if we do not land Stone, and said so--what would you be? Maybe elated, or maybe just happy to go after another switchable. And then say "Hey we are not Ky., Duke, UNC or Kansas", which I guess would be another of your action plans. Please hold your breath until you can stop offering excuses--please, please! By the way, how is South Bend these days, and the arrogance of ND fans there?

willie, first, that's Murs, not Skink. Second, your only solution seems to be "I will be disappointed", which essentially means there is no consequence, which also flies in the face of you calling it unacceptable. If something is unacceptable there has to be a consequence. Third, South Wayne is not South Bend, you silly goose (not to be confused with Goose). It's a town in WISCONSIN.

I think I have it figured out...
1. Willie wants us all to say....WE NEED BIGS!!..in every recruiting thread.....because that would show that...
2. We all have high expectations .....which would then lead to...
3. Buzz understanding that ...WE NEED BIGS!!!..and to let him know .....
4. Excuses won't cut it ......which will then result in...
5 closing the deal on some.... REALLY GOOD BIGS!!!

yeah--here they are: 6'11" Otule: a 6th year senior who was a 2 star out of HS who is either Roy Hibbert or a marginal Europe player, according to most on this board
6'9" Must be McKay: a JUCO who shows promise but is unproven
6'8" Must be Gardner: a top 500 out of HS who many said was a reach or is overweight--but has a shot a the pros
6'8" Taylor: a good player coming off surgery
6'7" don't know who that is, but not really a stud big out of HS--6'7" generally is not a big
You forgot a few: Mbao, Roseboro, and McMorrow
Maybe Taylor, and possibly McKay would make some drool, but neither is a true  stud Center.

There, now you have plenty of ammunition to moan.

Yeah forget the 2 stars and low ranked recruits who end up getting paid to play after college somewhere. I want bigs like Deshonte Riley who are top 100 and on the fast track to the NBA before never playing in college and transferring to a low major where they can put up 4 points and 2 rebounds per game.

You're a moron.

With you making the decisions - we'd have Evan Anderson (the stud for UW) instead of gardner. He had more stars than davante so he has to be the better player.

Maybe Buzz & Bo can get together on a trade - Gardner & a walk-on for Anderson.

6'7" happens to be Jamil - another good inside defender.

So Willie disregards us offering top big men because offers don't matter until we sign one. But its an outrage if we offer a guard?  So is Buzz not suppose to offer anyone until we sign 3 big men?

They aren't, though

Yes they are. Buzz watched him twice last week in person. The HC doesn't watch if there's zero interest.

(No kidding.  But don't question Brew's knowledge of Buzz's recruiting)

I expect to lose recruits to Kansas and Louisville, but I do not expect to lose them to USF.

"Lose" might be a poor word to use in a lot of circumstances.

He's from Florida and USF has been recruiting him for a long time.  We just got in the game.  Not really all that surprising.

He is from Florida and wanted to stay close to home......seems perfectly resonable....

Playing time might be another issue. We are deep at guard. I wouldn't see Holston starting until his junior or even senior year.
