I love that they have Gus Johnson there to do the introductions.  Nothing says "we are serious about basketball" like Gus Johnson emphatically yelling at you about basketball.

Why isn't this announcement on the ESPN frontpage?

I like how they list the Warriors first.

For rowing, LAX, etc... that's how those sports work.

Dan Beebe consulting!  This is the ideal time for some "Fake Dan Beebe" Twitta Tracka!!!

QuoteI'll be great working with the Catholic schools. Hell, I thought Baylor was Catholic til 2009.

QuoteWith seven schools that don't play meaningful football whatsoever, it's going to be like sixversions of Kansas. And DePaul.

QuoteThe first order of business will be to figure out which schools hold all the power. Which Catholic 7 school is in Texas?
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Couldn't be a smoother feed on my end. Good news for the lacrosse program as well. I really feel like this today...

They split the names above and below because one will be the Legends division and one will be the Leaders division

It's MSG time!  Let's see how long this deal goes...!

rowing, lacrosse and field hockey - likely means Uconn, UCinci, and Temple will be associate members for those sports only.  Smart move for all schools.  They all want to be associated with Big East.
Silenzio. Parla il moomoo.

I just peed a little listening to Gus Johnson on that promo.

Yeah, that caught my attention as well.

Listening to them explain the timeline behind the decision to say "Go **** yourself, LEAST" is absolutely fascinating, especially how the bylaws were written around a time like this.

Anyone going to ask about streaming?

Edit: "Fox Sports Go" just mentioned. As well as possible "Conference affiliated digital avenues".

Adam Zagoria has access to the press release and tweeted the following.

QuoteNew Big East officially announces additions of Butler, Creighton and Xavier. Tourney will stay at MSG thru 2025-26

"Working with conference to create a digital platform..."  Probably the best answer one could hope for at this point.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

From press release...

The Big East Tournament will continue to call Madison Square Garden its home, and the new conference will assume the existing long-term lease agreement that extends well into the future.

"We are thrilled that MSG will continue to serve as the official home of the Big East tournament.  In addition to being the center of the basketball universe, the Garden has served as a thrilling backdrop for so many of the Big East's most enduring memories and greatest individual achievements," said Father Harrington of St. John's University.

"Madison Square Garden has been the home of the Big East Tournament for 31 years and looks forward to continuing to host this premier college basketball event," said Joel Fisher, Executive Vice President, Sports and Arena Transformation, Madison Square Garden
.
