This may be the single greatest post in the storied history of this board.

In my own defense, I would argue that MU is not good because Vander Blue is their to to guy. I would suggest they are good because he's not, nobody is, and everybody is. I ve been a Vander Blue gpfan since he showed up. The kid can play. He's not MUs go to guy though.

What makes me think that Brew has been working on this post all season long?

So Brew, let me just ask this:

Why did you post this now and not after our season was completely over?  Did you want to post it before we crapped the bed in the tourney?

I started working on this post last week. It took me a couple days of combing through old threads to get it all together. And as it says in my signature, I would either eat my words or flaunt them on March 17. It has nothing to do with how we do from here on out, just that the guarantee I made on December 19 came true and today was the day I set as when I would own up to what I said.

All that said...this was a ton of fun to work on, even if it was a lot of work.

Does this qualify as the signature Hoopin' example?  LOL.

Well deserved and good call outs

Great post Brew, but you being a newlywed, how do you have this kind of time on your hands?

....just sayin'

Nice work, I just hope this isn't your life's greatest accomplishment.
We Are Marquette

I was about 3/4 of the way through that thinking I'd gotten away scott free. Great post...I was wrong on many things I posted, but I still believe a lot of it. The #1 thing is we've got an incredible coach and some very nice players and what seems to be a very close squad.

I am STUNNED we got a 3 seed and happy about it! I also would not be surprised to see us on our way home Thursday evening. But I certainly hope not!!

RyPow11

absolutely love this post...well done sir

I wonder if you'd have done the same if you were wrong?

...but I'm happy you were right!

Of course not, but he wasn't!  :D  He DID include a handy list of posters who certainly would have had the opportunity to call HIM out if he had been wrong...if they were inclined to put the time in.

Epic post made my day.  Calling the negativos out in a civil, friendly, non-vitriolic way. Nice to see them taking it in stride so far. Well done!

Go Marquette!

Well done brew.

Sadly, the same people will be back at it again next year when we have one bad loss.  Feel free to call them out again in March 2014  ;D

Next year, hell they will be barking in the Davidson game thread when we go down 0-2 in the first 30 seconds of the game.

You "guaranteed" Marquette would win a home game against a mediocre team from the worst power conference in the country and then gain entry to the NCAA Tournament three months in the future.

My god, with Keyser Soze-like awesomeness it's a miracle mere mortals can be in your presence and survive.

Yes, but when compared to the doom and gloom being written at the time, it was a nice call.

There are a lot of smart people on this board... but a lot of people are emotionally invested in MU hoops, and they tend go off of the deep end and lock onto simplified and extreme points of view.

"This team is terrible!"

"(insert recruit) is going to turn the program around!"

"Our recruiting class is ranked X, I smell final 4!"

"We lost (insert recruit) to (insert school), MU will never be big time."

"We need more guards."

"We need more big men."

"(insert player) can't shoot, and will never be able to shoot."

"(Insert player) doesn't "get it"".

"If (insert player) is our best option, then this team isn't that good."

"Buzz can't draw up a play. He'll never learn."

Etc. etc.

These sort of viewpoints are necessarily wrong per se, but often lack perspective, context and nuance because sports fans are irrational creatures.

I don't think Brew's post shows people being stupid, but rather irrational.

Check out his preseason predictions.  They were amazingly accurate.

Oh settle down, Negative Nancy. The most vocal fans at the time, yourself included, didn't see this as a talented team that would accomplish anything this year. I disagreed and had no problem putting my opinion in my signature in every post from then until now. I also had us going 23-7 (13-5) in the regular season (if you vacate the Ohio State game). Like I said at the start, no one's predictions always work out, but these ones did, and after watching Chicken Littles like yourself try to convince each other how this team just wasn't very talented and wasn't going to go anywhere, I decided to poke some fun in the hope that people won't be so quick to write off a team based on the results of one game in the future.

We made the tournament, and as a 3-seed at that. I'd think that this thread should be something we'd all celebrate, because in this case, me being right and much of the board being wrong was a good thing for all Marquette fans.

I'm still waiting for the pathetic bastard stepchild of this thread,
the 'ol MU82 "I told you not to be overconfident" thread, even
after a win(s)!, which is laugh out loud absurd.  HAHA...c'mon!

WE BARELY WON!!!  STOP BEING SO OVERCONFIDENT, GUYS!!!
