30 for 30 on Bo Ellis
« on: February 11, 2013, 02:47:30 PM »
Pudi, Comm ’01, and Chris Marrs, Comm ’98, were in town shooting footage for their upcoming project for ESPN Film’s 30 for 30. The film short, titled Untucked, will feature former Marquette basketball star Bo Ellis, Sp ’77, and the famous uniform he designed for the team.

This is pretty big news in my mind. I think this has to be up there in terms of free publicity. Always loved the 30 for 30s.

I thought 30 for 30 was suppose to be stuff that happened since the invention of ESPN in 1979.

Awesome idea, and very much looking forward to that 30 for 30.

Most of them have been very well done.

One quick note, it is a 30 for 30 web short, usually done in conjunction with a column from Charles Pierce on Grantland. It won't be a full fledged documentary.

That makes more sense. I was getting really excited for a main piece.

Horsefeathers.

Well, Pierce column + video is still pretty cool.

That's Charles P. Pierce, Marquette alumn.

Saw them filming Bo during the DePaul game. I thought Pudi was just screwing around.

Marrs and Pudi are awesome. Hysterical and great ambassadors for the school. Talked to one of em shooting on Saturday and did a double take when they said it was for 30 for 30.

The ESPN announcers referenced how cool MU's unis were back in the day.   During the Pistons game, which I flipped to during timeouts, George Blaha, the Piston announcer who has been doing their games for 30 years, compared the new NOLA uniforms to "something Marquette would have worn back in the day".    So I am looking forward to this documentary.

Simmons has mentioned MU's uniforms a number of times and how cool they were in the 70s so I'm sure, as one of the exec producers/creators of 30 for 30, this project was easy to get off the ground.
